Smart Phone Wars

Its Smart Phone Wars

Here someone can put forward two phones they like and the community can debate on which is better

I started these wars with two phones I am having trouble deciding between.

The Contenders are Nexus 6p and One+ 3

two different side of the coin

6p is a nexus so

- better screen (1440p)

-better camera

-better speakers

- works in every network

-faster update

- longer supported update

-better community support

one plus 3 is a "flagship killer" not really

- better spec( 820 and 6gb of ram 4 gb for system 2 gb for the camera screen only 1080p screen)

- more storage

- better battery life

- make sure it works in your network

You can't get a OnePlus 3, they were discontinued.. unless you get used.

Or from some third party website

They still sell brand new on one plus website in Canada.

Oneplus screen has better contrast, brightness, and color performance.

Oneplus has a longer-lasting battery despite being smaller and lighter

Oneplus obviously wins every performance test by a wide margin

Oneplus has better audio quality

Compare cameras. Look especially at the dollar bill and pink fluff to see the detail difference. Oneplus takes this one too for me.

Isn't the 7.1 a custom ROM? Doesn't the OPO come pre-loaded with Cyanogen while the Galaxy Nexus requires flashing? Oxygen for OPO has a strong community behind it, too. Take a look at Oneplus popularity at XDA forums.

Heck, on the Nexus 6P subreddit they almost unanimously recommend the Oneplus over the 6P.

galaxy nexus is a phone released in 2011( same time as the i phone 4s), it still has rom support.

At least cite sources.

First off, that's the Nexus 6P subreddit. It would be as if the Apple forum in your analogy started recommending Pixels.

Display quality?

Spoiler

Display - Max Brightness

Display - Grayscale Accuracy

Display - GretagMacbeth ColorChecker Accuracy

Did you even look at the camera comparison?

Spoiler

Google can pump up the contrast and add blur to make things look "vibrant", but so can you in any gallery app. The 3T captures details while the 6P smudges them together software-side to hide its shortcomings.

If you're going to use custom ROM's as an example, virtually every phone can be updated to who cares what. Galaxy Note N7000, Galaxy S2, Droid Razr are from 2011 too and can (as it happens with many phones) use custom ROM's to technically get Android 7. If anything, Oneplus is the best at this given that rooting won't void your warranty, unlike almost everyone else. Seriously, insinuating that Oneplus doesn't have an active community is absurd; it's in many ways the new Nexus for rooting.

And that the Oneplus One in particular doesn't still have a strong custom ROM community? You have fun trying to argue that.

look at reviews, real world performance, i saw both of these displays side by side. a quad HD high-end AMOLED vs a midrange 1080p display. also according to those graphs my i phone 7plus should have a better display but in real usage, i prefer the 6p. also measuring a color accuracy is stupid, its a phone not a workstation, it supposes to look nice, not accurate.

yes, i have looked at the comparison, in real world use not studio lighting one of the best smartphone camera was the 6p, it has very similar picture quality to pixel except for the fact stabilization sucks.

comparing a nexus community to one plus is a dumb idea, this is the company that forgot about one plus 2 after 3 was launched, abandoning official android os upgrade support for a 1-year-old phone seems like a dumb move on their part.

http://www.androidauthority.com/oneplus-2-oxygenos-update-no-nougat-758788/

"rooting doesn't void warranty' that might be the case also you have to remember you have to root that damn thing because it will get abandoned.

no offense One plus has a very childish community, you have to remember you get what you pay for. you can pick up an s7 for 30 to 50 USD more st some store over the 3t. if you love spec one plus is the way to go but in real world performance or usages like web or video watching a QUAD HD display with front firing speaker and a camera that still holds up in 2017 will be better.

Good point on the OP2. Might not be the right phone for people who care deeply about Android updates but not enough to do anything about getting them. I've personally never met anyone in the middle ground between "tweak everything" and "don't really care", but I'm sure they exist. Probably more a reflection of me needing to meet more normal people than anything else.

Watching 1080p videos will look better on a 1080p display than upscaled to 1440p (especially one that performs better in every way than the 1440p one). Speakers on the 6P are louder but headphone quality is better on the Oneplus. We can probably argue about 180p vs 1440p on phones all day; I'm still in the camp that 1080p is better than 1440p for phones regardless of cost.

Don't imply that benchmarks have no bearing on real-world performance. The OP3T is much better than the 6P on that front. 1080p helps quite a bit, rendering fewer pixels with a better GPU.

Given HDR+ and lack of OIS, a low-light studio should be best-case scenario for the 6P, but even then it smudges details.

Thanks Guys for the comparisons

I have bought the Nexus 6p

A few reasons other than the obvious(specs etc.) are:

-More developed community

-easily available replacement parts and accessories(where I live anyway)

-I normally use my phone for listening to music, watching vids and playing games front facing speakers help a lot especially when i am sharing my screen with someone

-Personally I preferred 6p's camera

-cooler design(my opinion)

Some cons would be:

-Easily bendable design (saw video of Jerry Rig Everything)

-No ois

-Fingerprint sensor is a little slower than other 2016-2017 smartphones

Personally I am happy with the purchase and don't regret it one bit (lets just hope this remains the case for a year or a year and a half)
