Is 4K Surround now Possible?

With the release of the Third Gen Titan X, I was wondering if 4K Surround is finally now possible?

The only game that I know of with 90% Scaling is BF4.

I don't know shit about SLI/Crossfire

all I know is that 1 better gpu > 2 lower gpus

Really depends on the workload and what types of games you are playing. I'd happily take two 1070s over one 1080.

but if you can afford 2x 1070s, you can afford 1x 1080ti

so your comparison should be 2x 1070 vs 1 1080ti

 

for me, all I do is stardew valley, terraria, minecraft, possibly server hosting, and a fuck ton of chrome tabs, so 1x 1080ti would be better

Why wouldn't it be possible? ^^ Nvidia supports 3 monitors, and surround setup. There is nothing more to it.

 

 

... If you can get playable fps with it, is a different question.

 

Btw: As a Gamer, you should NOT get a Titan xp. get the 1080 ti (even in Sli if neccessary). 800€ for a good Custom model is much much better, than 1300€ for a shitty horrible Founders cooler, that runs Throttled all the time because the cooler can't keep up.

Titan xp will give you the need of a 3rd party cooler for 50-60€ more, so.. additional cost.

 

1080 ti is the hands down best Gamer GPU you can buy right now. Similar performance as titan XP, but much less cost.

You can try and use FireStrike Ultra to do a rough estimation on how much faster Two Titan Xp's are vs a GTX 1080: http://www.3dmark.com/compare/fs/12386702/fs/12135787 (Both of these results are Slinky's so nothing too extreme)

it's not a third gen, it's still 2nd gen (Pascal). It just has a few more cores and same Memory speed as the 1080 ti. It's just the same card, just the FULL cuda cores, nothing cut out.

It is NOT "much" faster, it is just a few single % faster than the previous Titan X(p) that came out last year.

 

Still: The Titan XP only comes with founders cooler --> Low Cooling performance --> high temperatures --> throttling of Core clock speed

1080 ti as CUSTOM has a high cooling performance --> Boost much higher at lower temperatures --> not less performance.

 

If you cool the titan XP with water, yes. you might have a few single % more performance, than the 1080 ti, if both run at same Clock speed.

But if you don't want to remove the Cooler of the Titan XP, it's a bad buy.

 

I mean, 800€ --> 1349€. This is +68% price, but maybe only +0-3% performance.

Is this worth for you? You can almost get 2 1080 ti  for slightly more than 1 titan XP, and have a lot more performance.

Prolly gonna depend on the game. Two titans is the way to go, as always. Doubt the frames would be playable for a fps game unless single player.
