British team 3d Print titanium face for accident victim

mr moose

British specialists are taking CT scans of the face of a man who had his face crushed in an accident and then having a surgical grade titanium implant 3D printed to reconstruct his face.

Imagine what else they could do given enough time.

Pretty amazing.

But wouldn't the factories that normally get orders like this practically just giant 3D printing warehouses? Maybe I'm wrong.

Wonder if this was part of an elaborate plan to have a shot at the role of the next Bond villain.

Keeps getting more amazing everyday (except the time they made a gun)

that gun could very well save someones life.

imagine punching him in the face during a bar fight. You'd shatter your hand, and need a 3D printed replacement as well. :P

Hmmm. I cant possibly imagine how much precise it would has to be. I think that you would be better of with several GPUs than with such an expensive 3D printer.

Im not going to get into gun talk here but many people see guys as harmful which could tarnish home 3d printing.

Personally this shows us what technology with computers can do for people that are in need of help!

Part of my jaw is kevlar, so I secretly wish someone would hit it there so I could "benchmark" it.. Though I have no idea if it'll actually help.
