Can I Move Folders From SSD to HDD?

Hi everyone,

 

I recently installed Windows 10 on a SSD and have an HDD for storage. My question is can I move my PrefLogs, Program Files, Program Files (x86), and User folders, etc from my SSD to my HDD?

no not without messing with windows. you can install programs on the HDD but don't just move files. 

Good luck, Have fun, Build PC, and have a last gen console for use once a year. I should answer most of the time between 9 to 3 PST

That will corrupt files.

Ah ok. Is it safe to move My Documents, Downloads, Desktop to the other drive?

just make a new folder on the HDD and tell windows to default to it.

Moving the raw files from a drive to another will destroy or render the pathing of the files useless. Thus breaking your files, your best bet would be reinstalling the files on the other drive.

There are some exceptions, certain programs are coded in a way which lets them be accessed even after their paths have been changed.

Thanks for the info. On another note, is there a way to download google chrome without it going directly to the main drive, being my SSD, and having it download to my HDD storage drive?

I recommend you leave google chrome on your main drive, as it can improve browsing performance.

Applications such as my overclocking utility, tools and small sized applications i leave in my SSD.

I use my HDD to store huge programs such as games that get over 50GB at times.
