Should I get rid of my 6800K for Ryzen?

I just seen the benchmarks on LinusTechTips channel and it's not looking good for 6800k or any intel CPU except for the 10 core beast. I was wondering if it's worth getting rid of 6800k, adding money to get 1800x? Motherboards are a lot cheaper so I wouldn't have to worry to spend tons on a motherboard. Opinions? With 4.3Ghz on my 6800K I'm getting 1310 - 1320 multi score on Cinebench and around 185 - 190 single core I believe whereas even AMD 1700 chip gets 1400+.

I've a 6600k I not for a second am planning to swap to Ryzen, but I am hopeful that around 2018/2019 when I build my next rig, that there will be some seriously interesting options rather than what Intel chip is affordable.

No, use it for a few good years and then upgrade to something new and even better when you need it.

The benchmarks is just a reference to show you where the cpu stands, getting one for the sake of bragging rights is stupid.

Lets be honest, you knew this answer coming in...NO.  For straight gaming, it equivalent, and unless youre encoding videos consistently or do ing something else to use all 8 cores/16 threads, its not worth it.

The CPU you have is great, theres no need to replace it with the upcoming Ryzen chip. Make full use of the life of your current chip, get your moneys worth out of it.

YES.    You should be able to sell your 6800k and motherboard for about the same as it would cost to purchase the Ryzen 1800x and motherboard.  If it costs you nothing, and performance is better, it seems like a no brainer to me.  Of course, it all depends if you can sell your current hardware for the right price.  If it ends up costing you money, you have to decide how much it's worth to you for the relatively small upgrade.

Yea I don't think I'll be able to sell it for enough money. I saved up cash, but it's saved up for 1080 TI so yeah. Intel CPU prices will drop.

Ryzen is for people that are looking to upgrade from their old tech to newest tech and/or people that bought low end new tech CPUs and would invest in a CPU upgrade. So pretty much anyone already on the higher end of Haswell/Broadwell/Skylake/Kaby Lake have no reason whatsoever to upgrade.

Get the 1080 TI, with that you should be able to game confortable for the next couple of years. By the time you need a new CPU we will be seeing new processor lineups, possibly with graphene technology. We could potentaly make computers more powerful than anything we currently have that could fold up and be put in your pocket like its a phone.

It wouldn't hurt to post your hardware for sale and see if there is any interest (post it now, before Ryzen is released and Intel drops prices).  See what the market thinks, then make your final decision. Now is the ideal time to sell.
