Ryzen 5 release date???

Go to solution Solved by Princess Luna,

There you go, that is probably the best 1000 pounds build you can make nowadays, highly recommend it [:

Consider marking thread solved so nobody ends up here without need [: and if you are willing to give me a thumbs up for the reputation count that would be very appreciated, anything you need in the future you can tag me in future threads I will be glad to assist you again.

Hi

I just saw the launch of Ryzen 7 but there was no info on Ryzen 5.

I want to build a system based on the i57600K but was holding off until Ryzen comes out.

Any info on Ryzen 5? Also will the AM4 motherboards have USB 3.1 and Thunderbolt 3?

If not I will got for the i5 build.

https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/abdullahseba/saved/#view=DZ76hM

Thanks in advance.

If the Ryzen isnt that good and you still go with Kaby Lake I highly advise you getting the locked i7 7700 over the i5 7600k if you will make a single GPU setup since it will perform better and the b250+stock cooler makes up for the CPU price since the 7600k needs a more expensive mobo and cooling solution.

I really don't know why people pay for unlocked i5's when a locked i7 is better for basically the same price

Due to the overwhelming amount of bad youtubers with their overpriced build suggestions financed by the big brands and due to the ´´cool kids´´ must OC rule hahaha... it is just bad marketing influencing those who are not too into researching themselves for a better value build.

because overclocking is really fun and you get amazing amounts of single core preformance?

Not gonna waste money on an unlocked i5 when I could add a couple more $ and buy the unlocked i7

I did consider the i7 7700 but in the UK the performance increase is the same as the price increase.

I'm going for the Noctua NH-L9i cooler due to silence.

Also the i5 achieves similar performance to the i7 when over clocked.

The Motherboard choice was because its the only Z270 mini ITX motherboard with Thunderbolt 3.

4 cores at significantly higher clocks > hyperthreading because games dont get much of a boost with more then 4 threads, though they are starting to benefit more and more from more threads.

Yes but for the same price the i7 will still outperform the i5 due to games managing better multi-threading nowadays, and with Vulkan and DX12 on the picture now the multi-threading support will be more and more important see the example below how the locked 6700 still outperforms a highly overclocked 6600k in games, and then keep in mind the 4 extra threads will make streaming, rendering and so on better so in the end unless you really wanna OC just for the fun of it going the locked i7 will always be a better deal:

Pretty much this and to add the i7 will go a longer ways before you need to pump an OC into it... People seem to forget that OCing shortens the life span of the chip.

I know, I get the hype, Im hyped too, Id love AMD to beat the crap out of intel, It benefits all of us. But Id better be sceptic and dont let AMD let you down. Wait untill the release date, the independent benchmarks and stuff. Keep It real, nor AMD or NVIDIA has kept their promeses with last years GPUs (ofc, they are outstanding, but they are not what they promessed, just check at the "recommended prices" announced at early 2016, before the release)

its 4 quite a bit slower cores, thast the thing. you dont get an unlocked I5 to not overclock. you get 4 stronger cores instead of 4 weaker ones running 8 threads. newer games will see the I7 come out on top becasue they are coded to use more threads but not in all titles that is the case. in tasks that are heavaly single threaded the I5 will win.

The single core performance of both of them are basically the same in any case so you'd still be better off buying the i7 unless you're gonna be buying a new chip every single generation.
