when Apple goes full retard .. never go full retard - iPad Pro better than a computer

I paid $500 for a used i3/64gb SP3 whereas an 12.9" iPad Pro would cost me $800 new ($600~ used).

Have you ever looked at the majority of students that use word/office/etc...? At least half just open everything through recent documents and don't have a clue where anything is saved. Most people don't even need access to the file system. I also mostly use my SP3 to take notes with One Note, so to me it wouldn't make a difference, however, I would much rather use iOS than W10 on a tablet.

My Mum is a teacher, and without spending a fortune on a specialised device, she could only get videos and photos off the (128GB) iPad. Now her Samsung Galaxy Tab A is a different story. She can can expand its storage, plug in USB sticks to transfer files, or simply plug it into any computer and drag&drop files to where she needs them to be. Oh and it comes with an S-Pen which has its own slot inside the tablet for storage.

They specifically said "PC Viruses".

Personal computers would include apple computers no matter what apple says

"A personal computer (PC) is a multi-purpose electronic computer whose size, capabilities, and price make it feasible for individual use. PCs are intended to be operated directly by a end-user, rather than by a computer expert or technician."

This definition applies to tablets as well, and key word could

I'm more angry about storage costs. I get Apple has somewhat black magic going on with their storage, but jesus man you should be getting way more storage for that money.

I am, but this news story is fluff for the sake of fluffing the day. Why don't you research a way for me to cool my PC or fuel my car with bourbon/applejack.

just buy an iPad PRO - problem solved xD

and it doesn't get PC viruses - bonus

pc= personal computer

Is a tablet running a mobile operating system considered a PC? Is a phone considered a PC? Technically, yes, but I would still personally say no. Plus, Apple has always used PC to refer to non-Apple devices with a desktop OS.

I had a Galaxy Note for about a month before I replaced it. It was a stuttery cumbersome mess even when it was new.

Or, you could buy an iPad and keep a $5 USB stick on your keychain. I really don't see a valid reason to be using a tablet as a flash drive. Sure, it's a nice bonus, but it's certainly not one I give a shit about -- certainly not enough to deal with the mess that is most Android tablets (especially TouchWiz). As for taking files off an iPad, I've never once had any issues getting anything off my iPhone.

Thread moved to Phones and Tablets. It's not really Tech News.

While I like the idea of cloud storage, it shouldn't be the only storage option for people who use their gear for more than small apps.

@AresKrieger

Doesn't matter what apple defines something as and for something to be considered false advertising it doesn't have to be an outright lie rather it just has to be misleading in a seemingly intentional way (which it is quite obvious to be intentional in this case), also apple devices are still affected by unix exploits often enough which would be by apple's own definition a PC operating system, thus it is still an outright lie.

I really hope they get some much needed viruses on their platform made by people who see this as a challenge

I am talking about the Galaxy Tab A not the far older Galaxy Note. And I wasn't talking about using the tablet as a flash drive-you can plug a flash drive straight into a Galaxy Tab A and use it for transferring files or just as extra storage, while also being able to directly connect it to your PC and transfer files to and from it (as in files that you've worked on/downloaded throughout the day). Also, you would have only been removing photos and videos off your iPhone-not documents and other files.

Yes, but with data caps, slow mobile network speeds, and the awkwardness of USB adapters or dual port drives, there's quite a bit to be desired. Which could only be alleviated two ways: far more storage (seeing 128GB as base, and 256/512GB options at the highest end), or the currently more reasonable option of expandable storage.

The only two things I don't like about my S6 are the lack of SD card support, and the fact that the data toggle disappeared and every way of getting it back either doesn't work outright, or doesn't work with the latest versions of Android. If it weren't for the fact that I personally prefer my Note 10.1 or Shield TV for games, and the app data on my Note 4 can't be synced, I'd return it for an S7 or track down Incipio's ugly S6 Offgrid case.

Things that Apple conveniently leaves out of the ad:

  • It's more expensive than most laptops
  • Keyboard isn't included, it's sold separately
  • Not compatible with desktop applications
  • Only 32GB base storage, non-expandable
