good graphic cards for $250

my father said he will buy me a new graphics card for $250 and I sorta wanna be surprised give me a list of good gpu's for around $250 you can go over by a little (by like $10 or $25)

If you're buying new, I'd recommend a RX 480 8GB. You can get an aftermarket one off of newegg for ~$250.

You can get the GTX 1060 new for around $200. Or you can get a 1050 ti for around $150. Those are your best choices for NVIDIA. Or for AMD you could get the RX 480 for around $230. The RX 470 is also great for around $175.

for futureproofing and better drivers a 480 will suit you needs, if you like dx11 or older titles get a 1060.

the difference is minor for current titles, the 480 is more powerful in dx12 and vulcan while 1060 is better in dx11 or older. i suggest you get a 480 as it has more potential with more raw power.

Personally, I prefer NVIDIA. But AMD is still great too if your on a budget. NVIDIA has a lot of great expensive cards though. It depends on the model you get.

In titles that are naively DX12 there is no advantage to either. In titles with DX12 ports optimized for AMD the DX11 build runs just as fast on Nvidia as the DX12 build does with AMD... Come on guys.

 

The 480 and 1060 are equal, get the cheapest or the 480 if you ever want to crossfire.

no such thing as "better" for now amd has the 480 for 200 usd price the fury for 269 usd (if you can find it, most of them are sold out) which is a step behind gtx1070.  

if you are looking for a card for

1080p 60 fps get a 480 

1440p 60 fps or 1080p 144 fps a 1070

yup 30 fps in vulcan is same 100=130 fps nice math

not sure what you mean, if you're asking what it is it's a way of using multiple graphics processors simultaneously to increase performance:

If you were asking what would be the point for your usage, there wouldn't be. unless you buy older cards there are no two cards in your price range that have that capability (even if there were it would be pointless as despite having two cards you get less than double the performance and increased power and thermal issues)

i suggest a msi 480 8gb you can find them for cheaper in a sale or a micro center if you live near them.

NEVER ASK THIS QUESTION ON A TECH FORUM... personally i perfer the 1060 6gb to the rx 480 8gb, they perform about the same on newer titles but on ones that werent released in the last 12 months typically the 1060 is better

What? That's ONE GAME... Also don't forget the gains came from how horrible the game ran in OpenGL, not AMD magic sauce.
