makes the build quality and customer service more questionable (guess i shouldve said this instead)
is there any reason to consider clevo/sager over bigger brands? (besides for the price difference, which with current AW promos i can get either the 15 or 17 for cheaper with similar specs; though skeptical of there now only killer wifi no more option for intel wifi)

Razer blade?

price point seems much higher for worse components than even alienware, atleast as far as i can see on there direct site. i was considering them at first though.

curious if i were to buy an intel 8260 / 8265 wireless card (after market) could i just replace the killer wireless card myself in the AW?

Clevos are really good value machines.  They don't skimp out anywhere, they tend to be superior to most of the competition.  If you can get an AW 15 for the same price the build quality on that will be better, but compared to the usual competition (MSI GE62. Asus GL502VM etc....) the Clevo P650 is a great machine.  Nice build quality, and a ton of customization options.

would it be just opening up the laptop, taking out the killer card and putting in the intel card?
or would there be more to it?
i recall my xps l702 wireless card coming out pretty easily, though opening up the machine itself was a pain

both. the pins on the wifi card are really easy to break apparently. I have 0 issue with it however as I've taken it in and out like 15 different times running tests. However, other people who have attempted this have broken the pins so many times so I'm assuming it'll be quite hard for almost everyone. There's a guide on NBR on how to not break it. Otherwise, you can to route the cables a bit and opening it up is not hard. You can stick with the killer card now, there's a legacy driver that fixes connection drops (speeds are slower though).

trying to decide between the acer predator 17 g9-793-79pe, and alienware 15 / 17 models

thoughts?

technically speaking the acer 17 g9-793 seems to meet all my needs, i just hate the red accents and am unsure if the display is g-sync or not since theres conflicting sources. also do not know how good the qc or customer support is.
i know alienware 17 has no g-sync while the 15 does, and i know there customer support first hand
