Pc worth the price?

xDylanio

Hello, so i'm looking to buy my sister a pretty good gaming pc, sometimes she manage to get on my pc, and start messing around steam and stuff she doesn't even know about. Anyways, I want to get her a pretty good pc. My budget is probably around $1k, but anything lower is fine. Also I saw this pc on a website and it seems to be better than mine (not by a lot, I think just cpu and mobo)

anyways that pc has

-i7 6900k

- Temjin tj 11 case

- Corsair h50 cooling for cpu

- 970 gpu

- asus maximus viii hero

the person is willing to sell it for $1.2k

Idk if it's worth it or not, my pc has

-i7 4790k

-980 ti

-corsair h100i gtx

-MSI gaming 5

Phanteks pro something case

My question is should I buy the pc, which one is better, and if I did buy the pc, what should I replace with mine, to make my pc overall better

CPU - i7-4790k

GPU - MSI 980 Ti

Mobo - MSI Z97 Gaming 5

Memory - 32 GB DDR3

Storage - 3.4 TB

It's good value in my opinion, but that just might be my overpriced mind talking.

I'd agree its good value considering the 6900k is pretty expensive, to be honest I'd be more concerned with the status of the system, if you're able to run some tests on the hardware or at least benchmark it before buying I'd do so just to be sure he's not selling it cheap because there's a problem

Put yours in but like Blackhole said it seems a bit too good to be true thats why I'd make sure you can test everything first, given the price something smells fishy, you never know could be genuine it's definitely worth finding out, could be a good find :)

Depending on what your sister will use it for, I would wager that building a PC with say a i5-6600k/i5-7600k with an RX 480/RX470 would come out cheaper and have new hardware. From my knowledge not many everyday users will benefit from something like a i7-6900k.

I agree don't get me wrong but if you can buy a 6900k System for $1200 you can't really go wrong whether you need the power or not lol

If you can get that system for that price, grab it while you can.
That's a pretty highly sought after case iirc.

Check CPU Z and GPU Z and get the cpu and gpu info, other than that, not really, you could just buy the cpu alone and be okay.

EDIT: Dust and stuff as well is a worry, check the power supply, etc. The cooler pump might've gone out? idk.

Hopefully they will have the system up and running so if you can firstly check that the spec meets what hes advertising, like Ashiella said CPU Z / GPU Z, you can always pre load a USB stick on various applications to just load onto the PC if you give them notice you'd like to test it first shouldn't be a problem considering your handing over quite a bit of cash. google around for some stress tests you can load the CPU with
