"The best and fastest gaming monitor"...Are you guys going to do one of these videos every year? xD 

 

Honestly though, I'm still perfectly happy with my VG248QE with it's 1080p TN Panel @ 144hz. Maybe I have low standards for monitors.

Why do you say that? 60 to 144 is a big jump, so is 144 to 240, im sure if I tried it I'd never be able to go back to a lower hz monitor 

But how many people would be able to take advantage of a 240Hz monitor even at 1080p for example?  

 

I've got a 1070 and I can't get every game I have to 144 at max settings at 1080p.  Rise of the Tomb Raider for example.

 

 

 

Yes games can look very nice below max settings but my concern is that people might sacrifice too much graphical quality in trying to achieve 240 fps.  Also that 240 might too far out of reach at higher than 1080p.

I have that monitor too.  Love it except the icky color accuracy.  

 

I don't think you have low standards if you're using that monitor.  ?

I'm no creator, so color accuracy isn't really an issue for me. It did look really washed out out of the box, but I found an ICC profile on Tom's Hardware and that made a really big difference in the monitor's colors compared to stock. It's no longer washed out and colors pop a lot more.

Neither am I but it hurt me to look at out of the box.  Idk if the profile I found is the same but it defintely helps.  Though compared to my tv it still makes me sad a bit.  lol

Is this 240Hz still the good old marketing trick of having an interpolated 120 Hz, with black images between every refresh?

I only see it useful in VR as you do notice it more when it is inches from your eye.

Is it just me or does the big companies not listen to what the masses scream for.

 

I feel that I've had recurrences of seeing people wanting simple 1080p IPS panel with or without G-Sync but nonetheless IPS and 1080p.

 

But whenever some company announces a new monitor it's not really what the masses want. o.O

For people wondering how hard it is to drive games at 1080p 240 Hz. If you can run the game, the bandwidth is theoretically as 4K 60Hz.

The ability to google properly is a skill of its own.

Here's the thing. The "masses" that claim they want an IPS display w/ 1080p... aren't the masses. WE'RE not the masses here on LTT. Most gamers will just go into Best Buy or Walmart and buy the shitty 1080p TN panel that's on sale.

 

But I digress. The enthusiast community, on the other hand, definitely wants IPS more and more. I wouldn't say they overwhelmingly want it though, because even here on LTT forums, there's plenty of users who can't be bothered to pay the difference for an IPS display.

Oh I wasn't talking about only people here on LTT, I'm for example a member on a Swedish Tech site and there I've noticed a big nerdgasm towards what I said earlier.

The Amazon Link is just a link to the site with the model number as a search term. This has pretty much always how they've done it. Usually because when they create/post the video, it's often before the release date.

 

Most likely, Amazon simply doesn't carry it yet.

I don't even think an exact release date has been released yet. I did some searching, and the best I could come up with was a random Tech article that said "February 2017, with no specific date provided by ASUS".
