A single 1080, unless you already have 1 1070 then go with SLI so you don't lose money over selling it.

Two 1070s will have better performance than a single 1080, but you will eventually run into SLI issues with games that don't properly support it, such as not even taking advantage of the second card, texture flickering, or even crashing.

It's better to just get the highest end single video card that you can buy.

Depends what you mean "best".

But in general, Go for a SINGLE 1080.

Ultra is stupid. ALWAYS.

depends on many factors... when SLI is supported, definitely 1070 SLI will have more performance. although its going to be more expensive, and your system will generate more heat and consume more electricity.

but SLI has a ton of hangups and problems with it that you just don't encounter with a single card.... so even though a single 1080 may be a bit less performance, its a lot less of a headache (and its cheaper, not to mention its enough horsepower for almost all users)

If the game does support SLI, you will get better performance from GTX 1070 SLI.

But that's not the case with most games ... It's usually better to go with single better GPU.

And if you get GTX 1080 now, and need more performance later, you can go with GTX 1080 SLI.

1080, if you already have a 1070 then SLI but 1080 will be better.

Just like yesterday's topic I'd recommend a single 1080. I actually got decent money for my 1070 when I decided to upgrade instead of SLI

I see the single card parrots beat me here.

OP, 2 1070 will be much faster than any 1080. 2 1070 are faster than a Pascal Titan X. The only time I find SLI isn't supported with my 2 980ti, I don't need it. Never had any of the problems the lemmings speak of.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

single 1080. Overall in general, one card will result in a much better user experience. Even in the current state of sli, games frequent'y studder momentarily which is very unpleasant if you haven't experienced it yet. 1 1080 for sure

What stuttering? I keep hearing about stuttering but none of the people I know nor myself have ever had a problem. Ever.

Where are all the people saying to wait for the 1080ti? Should have been here by now. I'd buy what ever was cheapest. So a single 1070. Unless you're 4K gaming, then sli 1070.

I have a 1070 strix and I plan to put another in. But my goal for this system is 1440p gaming at cca 100-144hz, I'm not planing 4k. Single 1080 offers expandability later, if you want to go 4k gaming.

Most games support SLI pretty well. I have 2 GTX 1080s in SLI and dont really run into SLI issues. When I do I have to turn off the other GPU but most big titles support it.

Still though Id go with a Single GTX 1080 for this. Its a better price and unless you have a 3440x1440 monitor with 144hz or a 4K monitor doing two GTX 1070s in SLI wont be worth it.
