Give up IPS for 144hz and G sync?

I have a Dell U2515h and I thought about upgrading it since I get a GTX 1070 this spring. The U2515h has 1440p at 60hz with an IPS Panel. Is it worth it to give the IPS Panel up and get a Dell Se2417DG.

I personally wouldn't, but everyone's different.

I'd check to see how your card fares at more than 60hz at that resolution.

If you can't even break into the 80 - 90 fps range, I don't think it'd make that much sense.

I wouldn't, especially if your like me and like lots of color, however the 144 hz will help the strain on your eyes

Not all TN panels suck. Dell tends to have good colors so you could look up how good the color, contrast and such are on that monitor and see if it's worth the compromise. If you don't do any sort of design it might be a good buy.

He has a 1070, get can get those framerates in most games that that resolution, even AAA titles. Personally, especially for games, I prefer higher refresh rates and G-Sync to the benefit of IPS vs TN. But as has been stated, it's all personal

It's up to you.  Do you want to give up the benefits of IPS over a TN panel? 
Personally, I wouldn't.  But I can't answer that for you.

Assuming you can even run your games at 120Hz and up with graphical settings you can still enjoy the gaming experience.

 

Personally, I would not. The contrast, rich colors, and wide view angles is far more important than smoother experience. At least I can enjoy the rich high graphics of my games, enjoy the art style/direction of the game. Also, I have a screen that is nice for productivity.
