Posted January 6, 2017 Need a 60-70 range, I'd go up to 70, then I'd be downclocking. It has run above 90 deg tho, when I connected my AOI watercooler wrongly and shorted it. Thought it'd be cool to screenshot the >500MHz I was getting. Excuse my broken keyboard ☺ Spoiler CPU - Ryzen 7 2700x GPU - RX Vega 64 SSD - Samsung 970 M.2 500GB HDD - WD Black 4TB Mobo - Asus ROG Strix X470-F Gaming RAM - 32GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 PSU - Corsair RM1000x
 Posted January 6, 2017 80C is acceptable. 90C is start figuring out what's wrong now. 100C is shut it off, who cares if you were about to nail that sweet 360 no scope. However I generally want my CPU no hotter between 60-70C under load. I have a blog! And a list of guides I've posted
 Posted January 6, 2017 i usually look at the safe range of temps the cpu I have is rated for and try to have at least a 10 degree buffer zone.

Posted January 6, 2017 85C, its the temp my CPU gets to with my NH-D14 and 4.7GHz overclock on 1.335V in the summer. never above that. i had to turn down my overclock from 4.7GHz to 4.5GHz previuesly because my ShadowRock 2 didnt handle it when it got hot lol I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays... nothing, it just sits there collecting dust... Builds: The Toaster Project! Northern Bee! The original LAN PC build log! Treat others as you would like to be treated. #2. It's best to keep your mouth shut; and appear to be stupid, rather than open it and remove all doubt. #3. There is nothing "wrong" with being wrong. It may be something to do with my case. Pretty bad airflow for the GPU, plus Sapphire's RX 480 cooler isn't the best in the way of temps anyway. Mind you, it's factory overclocked by around 100MHz, so that's probably negatively affected temps too. Maybe I'll just set it to reference speed, live with the slightly lower framerates but decrease noise and heat... decisions decisions. Posted January 6, 2017 Oh wait, I'm actually on the fence about a sudden shut down at 100C, or at all. Mostly because I'm not sure how the CPU would like its cooler to suddenly shut off. Resetting the computer or closing all programs should be first. If the CPU temps do not improve, then shut down. But then again car engines are shut off suddenly all the time for no worse for wear. 4 minutes ago, deXxterlab97 said: It can't be worse than THIS The heat sink looks like they stuck a bunch of these on there: http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/518-95AB/345-1055-ND/340668 I have a blog! GPU stays at 62C under load, 68C when i Overclock, and its just stable.
