Technically an i3-6100 has the best FPS per Dollar but the best FPS over dollar setup would be a i5-6400 with a Asrock Z170 Pro4 and BCLK it to 4GHz Imo

Because some people want the latest features and the lowest power consumption and bragging rights, etcetera.

And SOMEBODY needs to buy new, you can't have people buying used forever.

i like the i3 single core speed and power consumption. then theres also a super cheap a4 that im using as a file server and is capped at 45W TDP

I got a 2500k + mobo OC it to 4.3 GHz... for 65 USD? Yup, that's the best value. I bought it for my brother (I have 2500k too, but on 4.5GHz)
