Whats the difference in the EVGA GTX 1060 SSC and FTW? Its like a $10-20 difference so I would like to know.

The SSC is using a 4+1 phase power design whereas the FTW has a 6+1, so the FTW might be able to overclock a little higher. The FTW also comes with a 12-13 mhz higher clock speed out of the box.

I don't think it should make too much of a difference, probably 20 mhz at most when overclocked, so you might as well just get the SSC.

Wut does DT mean

Quote

It goes back to this: http://www.evga.com/articles/01022/evga-wysiwyg/

All SC and FTW cards are strenuously tested in order to ensure they can meet the advertised frequency. Not all cards can, but in a lot of cases, they can still overclock fine or even great, because we also test base frequency under certain intense situations, even though under boost clock scenarios it may overclock really high or perhaps even to the same level as standard FTW. In other scenarios they may have been on the absolute edge of meeting it.

The FTW still has the benefits of RGB lighting, 10 power phases, dual BIOS, etc. And of course, it is also at a lower price than the standard FTW part.

To add to this, of the 3 1070's I've owned (all being EVGA), the FTW cards had Samsung IC's, while the SC card had Micron. The Samsung IC's were able to take +800mhz, while the Micron one stopped at +500. Don't have enough data to determine if it's 100% guarantee to get Samsung IC's on the FTW cards or not, but figured I'd throw that in anyways.

As for core clock results, my 1070 SC stopped at 2050, while one of the FTW's hit 2100, and the other 2150 (but throttles to 2138 during gaming due to GPUboost 3.0)

Basically if you want to overclock the card yourself, get a FTW. If you don't care but still want something not stock, get the SC. Otherwise out of the box, they're both pretty much the same.

Super nice. Samsung IC is a wonderful thing. +800 is around 9600 effective iirc?

Get those cards under water too :)

tbh if i were OP i'd go FTW (not DT) Gotta get the 2150MHz (+) dream.

@op get the Fuck-The-World because higher overclocks and a VRM setup that might last longer and run cooler.

I also need to add: Just asked a buddy that owns an FTW DT 1070, and his IC's are Micron. So far, the FTW I have, and a few others I have seen, are Samsung, but the DT versions can be either one.

Technically, my family has 3. I use one, my cousin uses one, and my brother uses one. I overclock all of the hardware in the family, so I keep an eye on everything about them. We did have an MSI Gaming X 1070 that clocked at 2150 and had Samsung IC's as well, but sold it for $350 to a co-worker (got it in a prebuilt machine that I got really cheap off craigslist). I also technically have 2 6700k's, a 6600k, a 6600T, a 4790k, a 4690k, and mountains of DDR3/DDR4 ram. I also have a ton of spare Z97 and Z170 boards, lol. Just need to figure out what to do with all of it.
