My windows installation is demanding for a reactivation

I upgraded my hardware (CPU and Motherboard) and now windows says it needs to be reactivated. It states that my windows key is used by another computer.... even if the hard drive is the same.... please help

Connect it to the internet and it should activate itself

windows 7 or 10? OEM or retail? Windows 10 makes it easy if you had linked your license to your MS account

You can use phone activation if it doesn't activate over the internet.

Just wanted to say that when my windows 7 key did that, the phone activation thing didn't work however using their downloadable key activation program (off microsoft's official website), it got reactivated again. Unsure whether windows 8 has that but if all else fails then maybe upgrade to windows 10?
