Practical solutions to improve WiFi connection on phone?

Hi everyone,

 

I live in the basement of the building and the wireless router is on the first floor.

 

I get connection problems on my phone pretty frequently to where I switch to my mobile data, or repeatedly turn wifi on and off on my phone to establish connection.

 

Should I download wifi analyzer and change some settings? What settings do I change?

 

Should I get a repeater for the basement?

 

Thanks for any tips.

Do you mean 802.11 AC? I could just put an access point closer to me, but I want to do free options first

I meant AP, not AC... So yeah, access point. Lol. 

Are you using 5GHz or 2.4?

I'm not sure. A wifi analyzer app would tell me that??
