It's pretty CPU agnostic really. Doesn't seem to care one way or the other currently. I imagine eventually when we are getting 200+ fps normally we may see it care more about clockspeed and IPC, but currently and for the foreseeable future it basically doesn't matter what CPU you have (at least in the 1080p Extreme test we run).

As evidenced by @RicY's very normal 1080TI score with an FX 8350 CPU and @Intelfreak's normal 1080TI score with a 980X CPU. Both of these are surrounded by very modern 6700k's and Ryzen CPUs that really haven't made a difference.

I'm sure it helps some, there's no way it wouldn't since the CPU still has to do some work. But in a more general sense, the CPU really don't make much of a difference in this benchmark. There's a lot more to gain from tweaking GPU overclocks than there is CPU overclocks. Valley on the other hand is a completely different story.

Yep. But there's only so much I can tweak on a single fan 1060, so I have to resort to CPU overclocks lol.

lol, only problem is the duct is in the ceiling... I guess the circulation fan pointing directly at the gpu method will have to suffice for now.

But seriously, I have heard that my card doesn't have cooling for the VRAM; should I take it apart and put in some thermal pads to connect the chips to the heatsink?

Little bit better 1080p Extreme score, but worse 4K. Poor refference card keeps hitting power limit :(

CPU: R5 1600 at 3.925Ghz w/Phanteks Glacier CPU block

GPU: KFA2 GTX 1080Ti blower edition w/Phanteks Glacier fullcover block

GPU clocks - 2050Mhz max core (+150 on EVGA POCX), 1545Mhz on mem (+675 on EVGA POCX)

I really don't have much headroom honestly given the actual card is oc'ed out of the box & pascal's nature and I'm not ready for custom waterloop yet.
