Get that CPU to 4.5 or higher, you'll see a huge performance boost in Valley since it craves CPU speed.

You've got plenty of overhead even if you're on air.  Turn that 5820k and those 980 Ti cards up a bit.   I'm a big fan of the 5820k!

I was planning on doing some over clocking with the cpu. Nothing yet on the gpu, might get to that later. In the meantime, two benchmarks, 1st @ 4.3ghz 2nd @ 4.5ghz. V at 1.325v

Probably could have kept pushing but its just not worth the slight extra improvements.  Second pick shows 1.35v in cpu-z, i have gotten it down to 1.325v stable so far.

More than likely you'll be able to drop that a bit lower.  I personally love pushing it.  I don't worry about voltage much as long as it's within reason.  Voltage at 5.0GHz gets fun!

Yeah, for a start there's no GPU-Z. But my guess would be AA forced in the control panel to something low or some other settings tweaked to pull the fidelity down. That score isn't possible for a single 970 on probably even LN2

Its probably timer bug on win 8/10/8.1 because he's on haswell.  It's the reason why hwbot doesn't accept loads of benchmark submissions if they're on certain platforms with Windows 8/8.1/10.

Basically it tricks the bench into thinking it's running faster than it is.

Build number shows he's on 10. Odd bug, never heard of it before but then again I'm not a massive bencher

It has to do with the bios timer and how windows reads it or some shit.  Apparently it can be easily tweaked by messing with BCLK.

1.4 feels pretty high to me but you are on water. I found it best to start at 1.3v, increase the multiplier until instability, then more voltage. You'll know when you hit the wall, for me before I killed my chip the wall was 4.8GHz at a bit over 1.35v IIRC

Urm, well...

Quiet down the front there :P        I'm on 3132

I have to wait till winter to try anything again. It's still way to warm here to give anything ago.
But I will try & see what happens. Need a day less than 20c to try anything. And that won't be for at least a few months.
I can get my 4690k stable at 4.9Ghz quiet easily with temps around 70c under 100% stress. Can't remember the voltage though.
Have to look into my saved profile in my bios to check. But I think it is around 1.330 - 1.350v.

Close, but those extra few points are bloody hard to get.
Good luck though :)  Also what card are you using? Can't say I have seen anywhere in a post what it is.

Damn my 4.9ghz needs 1.47v :(

I can't see how that is possible as well. Maybe if it was like 50 -100 over "maybe"

I'm calling bluff as well. He has listed his core clock for that run was 1647Mhz with his CPU-Z only showing boost clock of 1441Mhz ?????
I know to get my clock up to 1649Mhz CPU-Z was showing my boost clock of 1574Mhz. Difference of 133Mhz. Can't see GPU Boost 2.0 jumping it that much.
I have included the CPU-Z he claims was from that run....   I'm NOT saying it is his fault or that he is lying. Must be a glitch somewhere........

Oh man, that's some beefy volts for 4.9. What's 4.8 or 4.7 like on volts?

GPU-Z is always a bit too low, and Valley is always a bit too high, so his clocks are probably in the middle. The sensor tab always gives the right reading, which is why most submit using that set to the max clocks.

With my 970 at 1590MHz, Valley reports 1700+ and GPU-Z reports around the high 1400's

Might run some valley later, board is prepped for some funs.

I want to insulate my 980 TI and DICE it as well, but I haven't quite worked up the nerve yet.  Also insulating GPU's is a fuckin pain in the ass...

What. Do you have a CPU-Z validation? Also come here and give cinebench a run:

with my 5820k I can run 4.5ghz @ 1.26v - thats my everyday clock - it gets real hard real quick though... even up to 1.5v I couldn't get 5.0ghz

Best I managed was 4.9ghz at about 1.38v if I recall
