$200ish USD camcorder that records video better than my Galaxy S6

S6 is a great camera. For $200 I don't think you'll get much better

A camcorder will have some optical zoom, making it better for video work than a phone.

True. But at this price, you won't be able to get UHD video like you can on the S6, which gives you a ton of room to crop and zoom in post. Also, since he''s getting studio lights, he must be shooting indoors, where you can usually just get closer to the subject.

If he were really buying studio lights, he'd have a budget of more than $200.

The ones you are buying can also be used in a studio, but are you sure they will provide enough light?  A $200 camera certainly will not have any low light performance at all, so you better make sure the lights will be bright enough to light the set.

I'm not telling you to buy $25000 lights.  I'm pointing out that you're looking to buy a $200 camcorder and going to be using 105 watt bulbs.  They may not be bright enough, depends what you're going to be filming and how close the lights are going to be to the subject.

 

 But my original comment about studio lights was to the other guy.  While the S6 might be able to film in 4K, a camcorder is going to be better for filming video.

gopro hero 4 session. 1440p 30fps. id take it. youll have to put it through the gopro software first to remove the fisheye. im surprised the gopro software doesn't downscale it.
