Anyone know if it's possible to setup an xbox CD drive to work on PC?

Mini Van Dan

This is probably a dumb question but I figured I'd ask to see if anyone has done this. Anyone know if it's possible to setup a Xbox CD drive to work on PC or do xbox games require more then that to run? I would also like to know the same thing about PS4 Drives. Again probably a stupid question but figured I'd ask.

Probably.

do xbox games require more then that to run?

of course they do, actually the drive it self is not required at all, its the software and the hardware of the actual system thats needed.

The actual software differs, and Xbox One games playing directly on a PC are not compatible. The disc drive of the system technically does not matter, but it's also possible that Microsoft imposed additional limitations in that regard.

If you're wanting to use the actual drive from an Xbox One, it might work inside of a PC.

There are no 360 emulators that actually work. They might do a tech demo but that's it.

Well I guess another question would be is it possible to get the xbox disc to work on PC outside an emulator or no?

Do you mean to play the games? definitely not. The games are built to run on the specific console hardware.

I'm highly doubtful of that.

For all three, the answer is both yes and no. The yes part of it is that you could likely use the drive to read normal disks (for instance, the original xbox used a standard PC CD drive), and I assume that all of the Xbox disc drives are standard parts. It's not like microsoft is going to design and build a totally custom disk drive...

However, you won't be able to run xbox games on the PC, as that is determined by the operating system/actual hardware in the console, rather than the disk drive.
