Than you either have an overpriced Q6600 or underpriced FX 9590.

Anyways, there is some added price to the FX 9590, because you need an 990FX motherboard for it and also very good cooling.

What is better q6600 or the 9590fx?

While they may be similarly priced, there is no comparison. the better comparison would be the i5 6500.

Not trolling just want to figure out what intel CPU around the same price of an 9590 is equal or better.

Pretty much anything if you're talking brand new price. Plus the cost of the motheroards needed to run the 9590 properly inflates the total price which makes it cheaper to go with Intel.

For an overclockable mobo and CPU from intel it's pretty pricey.

How about a 4690k vs the 9590

For singlethread performance: i5

multithread: 9590

http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i5-4690K-vs-AMD-FX-9590/2432vs1812

But DONT put a fx 9590 on anything less then a 990fx chipset board, with a 240mm water cooler, anything less and you risk it overheating or catching on fire (literally)

This can be the consequences of cheaping out on even a 970 chipset board.

An 8350 is a better choice that won't cause this.

I won't buy a used CPU. And it's that price because they no longer make them and there aren't many left supply v demand. Just like ddr2 ram.

They are selling it for the price that it was a year of two after release, that isn't supply/demand that it is the seller doesn't know that what they have isn't worth anywhere near what they are trying to get for it. Ddr2 (even ddr1) ram is still produced in very limited quantites, and is still sold new, and not as new old stock.

If you buy new, then you shouldn't even consider any older components as you will always get ripped off case and point the $200+ q6600, buy the newest components you can then so you can get the best performance.

For daily use and gaming that would be about an i5-2300/2400

For multi-threaded and content creation (rendering, transcoding, encryption, compression etc.) that would be an i7-950/960

The Q6600 is 10 years old now, and MUCH MUCH slower than any of these processors.

ohhh it does...i had an overclocked FX-8320 that was running at 4.6ghz with 1.52V on the core (about same powerdraw as an FX-9590) and i believe it was pulling roughly 260-280W from the wall...as much as an high-end graphics card hey!
