KDE 20th Birthday: Re-release of v1.0

KDE, one of the top desktop environments, is celebrating his 20th birthday, and what better way to celebrate a software anniversary than to re-release the version that started it all

So much as changed in 20 years, for comparison here's KDE first LTS release: Plasma 5.8

So if you want to jump on the nostalgia bandwagon, check the blogpost at the source

Not all past UI are ugly. Some even look better than newer ones (eg. Aero vs Metro).

Or Luna Vs. Aero Vs. Metro! Though I still prefer "Windows classic" (Win9x/2K) over Luna, Aero & Metro.

I've only ever seen Luna through Windows XP BE. On the plus side-it made people think it was Windows 7 

 

And FYI to those uber sensitive people, its not piracy when your laptop came with Windows XP Pro, and you can't be assed setting it up and doing the tweaks yourself.

some features of Aero is better, some of metro is better. We need a custom mix of the two with none of the bullshit.

What we need is the ability to choose between Aero and Metro.

we have that. Shell loaders still work just fine.

You can also manually change the shell. ALTHOUGH, you may lose some menus specifically designed for metro...

I've always found the shell loaders to be buggy. And the only metro menu that seemed useful to me was settings-and that mostly leas back to control panel.
