My very PC I put together was a Frankensteins monster kind of thing. I can't remember the parts very well because it was so long ago.

Back in 2003 or so I was like 14

Specs

Case: HP Pavillion 8750

CPU was an intel

had 80 gigs of Hard drive space

256mb of RAM

Found the cd rom drive in the garage of my parents house

Found a Nvidia GPU in the same place

It already had the motherboard in it.

The awesome thing I played the very first COD on it for about 5 minutes and then it exploded. That freaked me out, because it popped and the computer never worked again...I was like "First computer ever!!" and then sad instantly.

I was smarter on my second build, just because I was older and less dumb.

Ugh... ohhh so many moons ago.

Something like this... 486 DX2 66MHz, 6mb of ram and a 14" crt. I believe my system had a turbo button which upped it to 88mhz, cant remember now. All for Doom and the Original Wolfenstien! <3

I'm curious of what your first PC build was and the parts you used, I am 17 years old and I only built my first PC two years ago, but I've been PC Gaming since I was like 7, playing Half-Life, DOOM, Flight Simulator etc. So just post your first build if you feel so inclined :P

My first build, built in late 2012.

CPU: Intel i5 3450

Motherboard: P8H77-M

RAM: 4GB XMS3 @1333mhz

Chassis: Coolermaster Elite 430, which has been 'upgraded' since to a Fractal Design Define R4

GPU: GTX 650, I stupidly fried this card March 2013 but it was a good performer, my current GPU is a 7870

PSU: Corsair CX750

Storage: 500GB Seagate Barracuda, pretty bad drive, it's slow and very noisy, I have since added a couple of 60gb hard drives for more storage and an 128GB Sandisk Ultra Plus SSD as my Boot Drive

OS: Windows 7 Pro 64bit

That's cute.

My first one was a teardown and rebuild of a HP Pavilion 8250.

Pentium II 300mhz

48MB RAM

20GB Hard Drive

I think I recycled my Voodoo 3 2000 until I got a random nvidia card shortly after.

Second build was a Duron 1100. That machine was a monster.

All time favorite processor was an Athlon XP 2400+, back when AMD made Intel it's bitch.

Would be my current

FX-9590 (Because I need it)

AsRock 990fx Extreme 3

Sapphire Card (Not sure of exact model name) AMD 280X with 3 gigs

16 gigs of Crucial Balistix Sport running dual channel

Antec HCG 850 Watt

Wd Blue 1tb

Fractal Define R2 XL

Samsung Dvd combo drive

And a NH- something something Noctua Heatsink.

All with Windows 8.1.

I tried and tried to remember what the first one i ever built  had in it, but that is over 24 years ago and my memory isn't that good. Was about 9 at the time with my Dad. Now when i was older(13) and built my own.....no idea the exact parts were, but the CRT was rockin.

  • 2 weeks later...

My first build, built in late 2012.

CPU: Intel i5 3450

Motherboard: P8H77-M

RAM: 4GB XMS3 @1333mhz

Chassis: Coolermaster Elite 430, which has been 'upgraded' since to a Fractal Design Define R4

OS: Windows 7 Pro 64bit

I built my first machine back in 2004....If I recall correctly the parts were:

CPU: Intel Pentium 4 2.8GHz (I THINK it was this one http://ark.intel.com/products/27447/Intel-Pentium-4-Processor-2_80-GHz-512K-Cache-533-MHz-FSB)

Motherboard: Intel D915GEV (Later replaced by an ASUS motherboard)

RAM: 1GB (2x 512MB...this was a big deal at the time)

Chassis: A cheapo $40 case at the time from Fry's

GPU: Integrated (yay)

PSU: Antec 350 watt

Storage: 200GB Western Digital SATA Hard drive

Memorex DVD Burner

OS: Windows XP

Oh yeah, I built this thing when I was 12 and didn't have any internet of my own at the time. I did tons of research at the library, school, and from computer repair manuals, and didn't have any outside intervention especially since my parents have zero experience with computer hardware. It was quite the project, in fact, I entered it into my school's science fair where our objective was to build something creative. I won by a landslide. :)

Since then my passion for tech has only grown.
