Visiting some pages creates massive lag and hogs CPU

terrytek

so i've been noticing that some threads take up more cpu than i'd like, for example on some pages like this,

it will just freeze up my LTT tab and if i take a look at task manager, it will normally take up between 20-25 percent of my cpu, on just that one tab. i don't know if it's some network resource that my pc is just taking forever to load, or what?

and @colonel_mortis i don't think i'll be able to open the console on the link because the page is essentially frozen when i visit it and i can't do anything to it not even open the console. and here's my browser info in case its needed. http://whatsmybrowser.org/b/ZJW0132

this is probably the only place i'll hang out anymore: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/274320-the-long-awaited-car-thread/

inb4 "it's because you haz a Q6600!!!!" Which is so untrue it's funny since I have a Q6600 with even less RAM.

And for me that page is soaking up about 11% total, so... Eh.

That thread gave me Java crash report on mobile. Maybe there's some image or something which causes it.

If you open the dev tools and run

$("img[src$='gif']").attr("src", "");

does it fix this specific issue (it will break other things in the page though)?

wait isnt it illegal to tag moderators in open forums?

It's completely pointless (I read every topic in this section, and elsewhere it's normally done where the report functions should be used instead), but there are no laws against it.

Why would that be illegal or even just against CS?

I thought it was about that CPU usage killing browsing.
