I'm going to guess it uses the field lines for reference and calculates its position based on how it moved relative to those lines. A badminton field has a very predictable size.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

i don't think so, otherwise that would be a very royal usage of "very advanced".

It can still be very advanced, but rely on basic concepts.

The imager and processor inside the unit could be incredibly advanced, doing spatial calculations, to the mm accuracy, using the court lines as a guide.

That would still be "very advanced".

It's not as trivial as it sounds, making a system like that that has millimetric precision and takes the bot's direction into account is probably very challenging and requires very precise sensors.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

yes but the main point of my question was meant towards the advanced techniques, not the general concept.

Is it just me that it is weird the asian man is speaking in a english accent (merican here)

How is that weird? He was probably educated in the UK or one of their overseas territories or something.

Is it weird because you think he should either have an American Accent or an Asian Accent? Perhaps he grew up in Hong Kong, which used to be part of the British Empire.

No, not at all. Would it be weird if you went into your town and met a Chinese woman with an American accent? All it means is that the family hails from elsewhere while the speaker was educated in the country.

Yeah man not that uncommon. I'm native german speaker but I sound like a Redneck cause I got relatives in Texas and played a lot of online shooters in my teenage years. lol

Thought the same thing! I've seen them with American and Australian accents but never British, it was a very odd feeling kinda felt like it was someone speaking for him idk.

Anyways I'm sure i'm missing something here i don't really understand what this will ever be used for, taking the human element out of sport kinda defeats the purpose doesn't it?

Edit: now that i think about it more i guess it could be used for training pros once its better?

I was kind of expecting a robot with the image of China the wrestler to do the challenge, I'd be way more interesting.

For this specific robot, the most likely commercial application is training bots. Yeah, you can get a machine that spits out birdies at you, so you can train your return hits... But this will actually hit back! You could realistically play training matches with this robot.

The other commercial applications aren't in this robot itself - it's in the software, and the sensors, that could be applied to literally anything that requires precise movement and location control. The possibilities are near endless in this regard.
