So many outright fake "reality" TV shows on

Operation Repo many years back was really bad for fakeness. You could tell instantly it was all staged.

 

Jungle Gold in Africa seemed real, did an alright job. Until the last few shows. They went down a road with like $100k cash or gold, they came back out on same road and now all of a sudden the road is blocked. Cue the robbery.

 

Some of the cooking restaurant shows, like Mystery Diners, Kitchen Nightmares and any of the 'make my business not fail' shows.

 

I guess all these shows and all the rest come down to one thing and one thing only.

 

Without Drama there is no TV show. That is why everyone of the reality TV shows are fake.

I would never believe that any Reality TV show is real, unless I saw proof otherwise. I just assume that they are all staged or scripted in some form. There might be spontaneous components, and mid-shoot rewrites or direction changes, but by and large, I assume that they are not truly "Real".

I dont bother watching much TV anymore. The most I do is at night for an hour or two but even then its hard to find anything interesting.

I watched PBR last night on Netflix, I never realized Brazil had such a rodeo influence on American Rodeo.

The only shows I watch on TV now are Canada Race on the prime time time slot, and any car show, the new Top Gear with Matthew LeBlanc sucks, he has no energy and a monotone voice. I like 'Whats My Car Worth' and I will watch a few auction shows.

 

 

Yeah they got some characters on the sea-can show. I laughed when I was flicking channels and saw a crane drop a can. Also they had a can that had shit hanging on the walls and ceiling. No one who packs a can for shipping would ever hang shit on the walls.

That is why you record them, and fast forward the commercials. I cant wait for a machine to automatically delete the commercials out of a recorded show. Not sure how they would do it though. Producers wont put in markers for automation.

Yee olde TiVo had a feature that would automatically fast forward through commercials- it wasn't perfect, but it would "guess" when the commercial was over. No idea if people still use TiVo's or not these days, mind you.

I have a Comcast account so I watch on thier on demand and there aren't any comercials..

I think that the only reality show I watch is Deadliest Catch.. Seems pretty realistic..

This is one of the reasons I say that TV is a part of the cesspit of the media, along with comments on social media. There's rarely anything good anymore. I guess they have to make these really fake and trashy shows to appeal to a broader audience. Not the nicest thing to say, but it's probably true.

I like Russian documentaries.  They seem the most honest and go into technical details, they seem to expect their viewers to have brains.  For the most part North American documentaries are dumbed down.

All of them are fake. From the very beginning of the genre ages ago, Survivor was basically scripted for all major events.
