What should I do with my old pc

I have an old hp desktop that stopped working recently and I have just been storing it. It's probably seven or eight years old and we got it new. It has a single core pentium cpu, two gigs of ram,  (it's either ddr1 or ddr2) and it also has a random graphics card (doesn't look like it has that much worth). When I press the power button it just flashes and the fans start up for just a second. I think the Cpu stopped working but I am not sure. I want to update/upgrade it so that I can do basic things and also play games like besiege and tf2. (please don't judge me) I am on a SUPER low budget as I rarely get that much money. What should I do?

The only reason I'm here is that I have homework that I don't want to do

PC  Specs   CPU: Intel Celeron N3060 |GPU: Intel HD graphics 400 |RAM2 gigs  |STORAGE16 gigs

It took me half an hour to find where to change my signature :(

TF2 probably won't run on that PC. You will at least need 4GB's of RAM and a better GPU (probably a used 750 TI or so). I need to know what CPU that is but since it's single core I do not think it will run TF2.

GPU: XFX RX 7900 XTX

CPU: Ryzen 7 7800X3D

750ti is too much.

Integrated gpu runs fine on my craptop.

I am aware, but a budget oriented GPU like the 750 TI or similarly priced cards would open his gaming library tremendously.

Let's hope his SUPER low budget can do that

Well true, before any of this though we need to know the exact motherboard OP has because he must upgrade his CPU.

If you list more specific specs, then we can help you decide on an upgrade path.

CPU model will let us know the socket you are dealing with along with the RAM type.  Only then can you see what the best configuration for the least amount of money is.

Since it won't turn on you will probably have to pull it apart and read the labels.

I will go into more detail about the specs later today but I know that I have to replace the Cpu

Hey man, you got what you got. Is that dollars, pounds, rupees?

No matter what your going to be hitting eBay and buying used which is totally fine. For 50 you should be able to get a used cpu/board/ram combo and just drop it in :)

Look at a core 2 duo or similar.

Main Rig:-

Ryzen 7 3800X | Asus ROG Strix X570-F Gaming | 16GB Team Group Dark Pro 3600Mhz | Corsair MP600 1TB PCIe Gen 4 | Sapphire 5700 XT Pulse | Corsair H115i Platinum | WD Black 1TB | WD Green 4TB | EVGA SuperNOVA G3 650W | Asus TUF GT501 | Samsung C27HG70 1440p 144hz HDR FreeSync 2 | Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS |

Server:-

Intel NUC running Server 2019 + Synology DSM218+ with 2 x 4TB Toshiba NAS Ready HDDs (RAID0)

And his potato GPU xD

Something like this shouldn't do bad :D

eBay link to a $70~ i3 sandy PC;)

Although it's iGPU (hd 3000) is a tad weak for games :/ (and it's overbudget due to shipping and getting a GPU for it would be a tad hard ;-;)

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

Alright guys so I finally have what hardware is inside

Pentium 4 HT( single core and probably dead)

1 gig of ddr2

Dell connolly E187242 (LGA 775 socket)

An MS-V025 graphics card

The hard drive is in a reader so I could get files off of it so it is fine and salvageable

Hope that is descriptive enough

the problem can also be in motherboard .... i would say sell the cpu, motherboard, ram and gpu for like 20-30$ if you can don't know if anyone will buy it  ..... and with 70$ get something like used core 2 duo, 4 gb ram, and something like nvidia gt730- gt740 equivalent .....

I will probably take the suggestion to get a core 2 duo and 4 gigs of ram though I will probably save more money for a graphics card and try to get the best bang for my buck

I would just donate/recycle that. It may feel like you should try to re-use or sell parts, but it's going to be more trouble than it's worth. If you don't have a  local electronics recycler, just take it to Goodwill or similar.
