Nice choice of cards one with a terrible memory design and the other one cut down with a misleading name xD

Get the 1060. Preferably get the 6 GB version.

To RGB, or not to RGB? That is the question.

In this case I'd go with the 970 if you can get a good deal. I would recommend the 1060 6GB if you can afford it.

Adding to what I posted before, you can find a GTX 1060 6GB version of the card for under $300. It's very much worth it over spending $250+ on the older generation 970.

You're getting the same GM as the 980. The memory issue was an issue in the fab process. Would you prefer the 960's GM in your 970?

If you can wait a few days for this card to be in stock, this would be an excellent choice for your money.

which tests do you see? I think you're seeing no tests. The RX 480 performs better than the GTX 1060 3GB edition. I think even the RX 470 beats it. The 1060 6GB is good, not the 3GB, though.

I used to be quite active here.

You can purchase the card from their website. But you can chose to ignore the others if you don't find their responses reasonable. I can guarantee you do not want the 3 GB variant. You'd be better off getting the 6 GB variant by saving up that extra cash.

From me too, GTX 1060 6gb.

If you buy cheap, you buy Twice. Buying a 6gb version saves you money in the end, since 3gb is TODAY already a HUGE Bottleneck.

Let's take Rise of the Tomb Raider as an example. I play it in MAXED out settings. Just Ambient Occlusion is on SSAO (HBAO+ does not look better in this game. Just in some areas it does, in others it doesnt, os i stick to SSAO), and AA mode is set on FXAA, beause for me it looks even better than SSAA x4.

I get ful 60 fps, with GPU usage 80%~ depending on situation and what's on the screen.

Vram usage hits 4700-5000 mb.

This is a scenario, where 3gb will Bottleneck, despite the GPU COULD have enough performance.

GTX 970 is bullshit in first place. 3,5 gb in fast, and 0.5 in slow.

As long there is driver support for this model, it works in most cases. As soon that stops, you will get a huge problem. Because right now, the Driver is preventing the game to use more than 3.5gb Vram. Those slow unuseable 0.5gb are NOT beeing used.

When that stops, and the game does not know that it shouldn't use that.... then you run into problems --> Very bad frametimes.

And 3gb 1060, like i said. You will have to turn settings down because of the Vram in latest games. And if you turn settings down anyway, you might as well save money with a RX 470 4gb.

So before you live with such a compromise, get a GTX 1060 6gb, and get over it.

One time less partying, and that difference is payed.
