Although hard drive capacities aren't growing at the rate they once were, the drives themselves are getting cheaper and cheaper. That's made it easy to load up a desktop PC with multiple terabytes of storage capacity on the cheap, and without taking up too many drive bays. At the same time, however, the rising popularity of network-attached storage devices and home file servers has lessened the need for gobs of local storage. I already know how many of you are running network-attached storage devices. Now, I am curious to see just how much capacity lurks inside your main rig.

Right now, 5TB. 4TB in mechanical drives and 1TB (close enough to) in solid state.

I'm down to about 120GB of mechanical and 200GB of solid state space left free, though. Once I get the funds together, I plan to completely re-do all of my storage, with about 2TB of solid state in my PC and then a 10TB NAS for mass storage (using 10GbE connection).

I have a 240 GB ssd and x2 500GB in raid 1 which get back up to a 500GB drive on my NAS. I could lose 2 drives and still have all my data ^_^

I have a WD Blue 1 TB and a 250 GB 850 EVO. And then a bunch of random laptop HDD's. I have even more harddrives to put in my PC  but I don't have any more SATA cables for them + I'm already at the point where I'm jamming harddrives in my case wherever I can... Capture.PNG the point where I'm jamming harddrives in my case wherever I can...

Pretty much all I have is my old 1TB 7200rpm HDD I've had for the past two years. I still have about 1/3rd of it left and I'll be cleaning it out soon lol. I wouldn't mind throwing in like a 128gb SSD for my OS and programs though...

That being said I should be more worried about my 4gb of ram lmao

Yeah, I only have one 1TB drive in my PC along with the 480GB OS drive (Where everything on my PC lives)...I'm only leaving the 1TB in there to see how long it lasts (It's about 7 years old now). All of my data lives on my home server (60TB). I used to have another 2TB, but that died last year (7 years though).

I am running a 120GB samsung 840 pro SSD as my primary drive (Opp system and local apps)

Then running 2x 2TB raid 1.  this runs my Doco drive and Apps drive

From there for all my storage i run a server with 4x 2TB WD greens in raid 5 looking after all my storage with a 5th drive looking after Server 2008 and a spare drive i use for my personal storage.

But my new Rig i am building i am getting rid of storage for SPEED and moving to a NAS for everything else so my new PC is going to run a 512GB samsung 950 PRO M.2 SSD. this will have a 150 GB OS drive and then the remainder will be my Doc drive with it backed up to my NAS. and then a 512 GB Samsung 850 Pro SSD for Apps.

I replaced a 1TB Hard Drive with a 500GB SSD last year and I'm never going back.

I do have a home server with 8TB of regular hard drives for backups and stuff.  I may be a bit of a data horder though.  Fairly sure I don't still need graphics card drivers that were released 5 years ago and gigs of different releases of 3DMark.  I'll clean it up sometime...
