I see what you're trying to get at. You can build a new rig with a 1070 for on the downlow if you're willing to sacrifice some preformance.  For me though, If I was going to build a new system with a 1070, I'd pour a lot more money than $700 otherwise it wouldn't be worth it.  It's like placing a engine from a Ferrari into the body of a Honda civic. (I know that's not how cars works it's just an algology)

but you see its more like a tesla vehicle... you get what you pay for and it also pretty practical unlike a ferrari which barely anyone would buy

Well I just looked up Ferrari sales.  I didn't know they had record low sales these past few years.
