RX480 Under preforming at 100% clock speed and usage??

Zhaopow

Hey guys i recently got an rx480 and put it on my A10 7850k @4.7Ghz 12gb 1333mhz system and it is better than my old r550 but it seems to perform way worse than benchmarks.

In gta 5 i barely get 40fps when people i see are getting 100+.

In BF4 i get 60fps when people get 90.

my Unigine Valley benchmark on ultra no AA is ~2500 when i see people getting ~3700.

This is a fresh OS and i have even used AMDs clean install.

Temps are ok, and in GPU Z in games its at 1330mhz 100% load the whole time.

I am stumped please let me know if you need any more information to diagnose and thanks for the help.

Your CPU is terrible. Those benchmarks use an i7 6700k or better.

Your CPU is a terrible pair with an RX 480. It's most likely bottlenecking your GPU.

what is your GPU load while gaming?

CPU load doesnt mean anything...the CPU can just be too slow to properly feed the GPU...only GPU load is a good indicative that something else in the system is slowing it down.

A CPU does not need to be at 100% to be a bottleneck.

But if the GPU utilization is at 100%, the CPU is definitely not much of a bottleneck.

Yo, GTA is a CPU AND GPU intensive game. It requires Both decent pieces of hardware. I would look into a better processor, I looked at an FX 6300 on GTA 5 and it does alright, it might be because GTA supports upwards of 4 core CPUs. (FX 6300 is a hexa core)

Obviously don't quote me, but do some research and you might find an answer.

True, that's usually the case for most games.

I would try doing a full windows clean install.
