does the SSD samsung 950 pro fit in this motheboard

and what would you prefer the 

SSD 850 EVO 1TB 

or the 950 512 GB 

my use: play games , movies and browse

m.2 ssds dont make that much noticeable difference unless you have another m.2 ssd that you have to transfer large files with constantly i would got with the 850

If I was you, I would use the 950 pro for OS and games, and use a HDD for movies.

Also I would rather get sm961 (if it is in stock) instead of the 950 pro as it is better for around the same price

850 EVO because

1) games and files take up a lot of space

2) games and movies and browsing get no benefit from 2000MBps+ speeds of NVME

3) unless you are a video editor or data analyst as your daily job, NVME is a waste of money

and if you only play games, etc, then just get a 2TB SSHD

For OS and games, an 850 evo and 950 pro perform essentially the same.

Its only in transferring large files where nvme drives actually perform significantly better than ahci ones. In day to day tasks that the average user does, an 850 evo will feel identical to a 950 pro. It's only for content creators and stuff that an nvme drive actually makes sense.

 

That's why for any gamer out there I always recommend the 850 evo. It's a good drive that won't let you down and that will perform identically to a 950 pro in an average user's workload.

No actually isn't, because who needs NVMe? 

 

Intel's new firmware does seem to have helped the 750 along, but it still boots quite a bit slower than its contemporaries. The 950 Pro boots promptly, as fast as any run-of-the-mill SATA drive. NVMe may not make your computer boot any faster, but the 950 Pro is proof that it doesn't have to slow you down, either.

Load times

Can we please all come together and stop recommending it to consumers? If you want the e-peen, sweet go for it. But lets all agree it has next to no practical worth.

 

(BTW if anyone wants to call me out about my shit, yea I wouldn't recommend almost any of my pc to others, it's a ludicrously bad value.)

Jump between SSHD and SSD is larger than the jump between HDD and SSHD, and SSHD suffers from literally all the same bad things HDDs do (including the dreaded I/O holds on startup after years of use).

 

But no you don't need an SSD. It is however a "good" time value of money investment.

Well in that case, the 850 evo is the better choice. If you need extra performance, the Intel 600P is a decent choice. 950 pro is only for people who need lots of really fast cache/temporary storage.

Check the asrock website, your mobo has had a few nvme bios updates.

Just get an 850, don't mess around with NVMe unless your gonna get a tiny one as an OS drive, and 2 ssds as storage drives.
