3gb 1060?

MxZeal

I was planning on the 6gb 1060 but they're all out of fucking stock (the ones that aren't 100$+ overpriced)

and ive been waiting for 4 weeks, I'm about to give up and get the 3GB version

What do you think? (CAD pricing btw)

I'd honestly wait, dx12 causes major vram usage since it appears to be a resource hog when it come to memory, so 3GB isn't the greatest idea in my opinion, even 4 will be questionable depending on settings.

Don't give up. Keep on waiting or buy an rx.

The 3gb 1060 isn't really a 1060. It's a shaved down version of the same chip, so it's actually a 1050. Or you can think of the 1060 3gb as the 1060, and the 6gb being the 1060ti. I really would like whatever Nvidia's marketing team is smoking.

Here's a list of what they use :

-Weed (Jen Hsun Huang's favorite)

-Vape

-Alcohol

-Cocaine

-Crack

-Cofffe

Get the RX 470 instead. 1060 3GB is an insult of a card.

You mean RX 480 right?

Not necessarily. The 470 can be overclocked to within a whisker of the 480. If all one needs is to beat the Troll-60, a 470 will handle it.

That's nice to know.

470 performs much worse and can't even take advantage of 4GB of vram.

Any game that uses that much vram will be running at <60fps and will be a horrible experience until you turn down settings.

The 3gb 1060 isn't as bad as some would assume and actually gives you a much better value than the 4gb RX cards imo.  At the same time, it's a mystery how it will fare on DX12 and future titles in general - so if that concerns you, wait and go for the higher vRAM models of either card.

And again (because I've said this in many threads), if you're open to the idea of buying used, 970s.  They're going so cheap where I am it aint funny.

480 8gb > 1060 6gb > 480 4gb > 470 8gb > 470 4gb > 1060 3gb

That's my order anyway.  And no it's not just based off vram.

There's something cool here - you just can't see it.
