GTX 960 2 GB Vs 4 GB

Is it worth the extra money to buy the 4 gb version of GTX 960. I am going to play in 1080p. Can I over clock it. Will it support all motherboard.

YES YES YES. Get the extra VRAM. It will allow you to play at higher settings and achieve a higher FPS, even at 1080p. Yes you can overclock it, and it will support any motherboard with a PCIe 16x slot.

What's the price difference? For 1080p 2GB is enough. But can't say more than enough. Encountered some problem while playing GTA V @ 1080p using 2GB card. Yes, you can OC it. It'll support any motherboard with Physical PCIe x 16 slot. Doesn't matter whether it's PCIe 2.0 or 3.0.

Depends on the games you play. if it's only LoL and CS then no, if it's other games, I'd say it's worth the extra cash. Yes you can overclock it, and all motherboards from the last couple years will support it.

the 4GB card is way better in VRAM hungry games like GTA-V, also get the 1060 if you can, way better card

Lucky thing my cousin's GPU got into some artifacting. So sent it for RMA. Received a refurbished damaged one. Then threatened them. They sent him a brand new 4GB model. He had 2GB.

I've encountered multiple games that max out 2gbs VRAM @ 1080p

GTAV, Black Ops 3, Crysis 3 gets close, Tomb Raider. Most games can use more than 2GB of vram.

Games buffer things into memory. You won't get an accurate reading because the higher your video memory on some engines the more it buffers things into memory.

When in real time it only needs 50-75% of the memory usage being shown.

Frames really wont change but Stuttering like crazy could happen. You would definitely have to drop settings.

This is true but I'm saying this will my own personal experience that games want 4 or more for max settings as it will lead to less stuttering or better frame rates.

I think RX480 is lots better? i play at 25601440 and i can play high settings and good performance.

480 is about 70% faster. 470 is about 60% faster. Even the 380 and 380x are faster.

don't buy a 960 anymore, except it's 100€ cheaper than the 470. ^^

 

don't buy old gen GPUs at all...
