Can only recommend this^ The first episodes are a bit rough but once you get used to the characters it's easily some of the best Anime I've watched since Corey In The House

 

edit: Seriously though, I don't think there really are (at least not legal^^) places you can just grab it. But I dunno, I only watch subbed

For Naruto specifically, I'd have to agree. The dub is awful. Actually, fuck the anime entirely. Just read the manga. The fillers in the main series are almost all terrible, the animation is incredibly uneven, and it takes forever to get anywhere sometimes. Then Shippuden is just complete crap. I made it as far as maybe episode 5 or 6 before giving up on Shippuden and attempts to watch the eps that have the best moments from the manga have no improved my opinions on that series.

 

The problem some dubs run into is being too literal with the translation and trying to translate specific, Japanese only, mannerisms when there is no equivalent in English. Naruto's "Dattaboyo" (or however it's spelled) or Kenshin's "Oro" for example. And any dubber that decides it's a good idea to use Japanese honorifics in their dub needs to be fired, immediately.

I don't but I have a theory about it: With the notable exception of weeaboos, I feel like most people who speak English natively usually prefer dubs. It's simply because for most of your life you've been watching context that's made from the start in your language.

 

When you have English as a second language like me and you've spend your entire life watching bad dubs you and once you have a certain level of proficency in the language you tend to prefer either subtitles or nothing since you've been missing a lot of the context, pop culture references and general nuances that are almost always lost in translation and/or due to crap voice actors doing the dubbing.

Yeah, I prefer the read manga than watch the Anime, like Pita Ten. The anime is just cute stuffs, but the manga is totally the opposite.

That can be part of it. A lot of times it also depends on what you watch first. I struggle to watch Dragon Ball Super because I don't really enjoy Dragon Ball in Japanese. Outside of absolutely hating King Kai's Japanese voice, I'm just used to that franchise being dubbed. My first experience with the series was the old Ocean dub of Dragon Ball, back in the mid-90s. Conversely, I'm not terribly fond of Code Geass' dub. It's a well done dub, but I watched the entire series through subbed so I'm used to how the characters sound in Japanese.

Aye source material and quality of dubs is key: I for example prefer the latin american dub of the Simpsons (first 15 or so seasons however) since the voice actors were top notch, they took many liberties with the coloqualisms and pop culture reference to the point where they flatout change the script and well I've watched since I was like 10 years old so that's how I remember the show.

 

The jokes nowadays do still land in English but most of the memorable ones I first remember in spanish.

Subs "ruin" some of the original meaning too.

It is pretty much impossible to translate Japanese without ruining some of the original meaning since it is so different from English.

You can do it here. You need to right click and save each episode individually, but kissanime generally has the highest resolution available, which is why I prefer it.

I mean I'm a native English speaker, I just respect it the way it was meant to be seen/heard. Same with foreign movies I cannot stand when they're dubbed over let me hear the ever wondrous expansion of human language.

I like listening to good voice actors, its half of my enjoyment of animations, but I never particularly enjoy listening to japanese voice actors, sure I can understand the emotion etc in the voices, but overall I just find it irritating to listen to something I cannot understand, as well as trying to read along, understand and also watch the shows visuals, its like if I was playing a game online and suddently a friend was playing music over skype, I would just find it annoying 

not to dismiss talented japanese voice actors etc

That's another good point: English dubs are usually of superb quality whereas spanish dubs normally range from bad to laughably bad. This is merely pragmatic: there's just way less budget in countries in latin america for example so you take what you can get and that's usually well, fairly medicre dubs at best.

I'm not saying there aren't any exceptions but let's be real here: I think you can agree that you are mostly the exception and not the rule when it comes to native English speakers and dubs vs subtitles.

I.E. the actual historical context of tentacle porn....no seriously most would go "....why?" but there's actually cultural background for it.

Yeah I can understand that, wasn't disagreeing Most of my friends can't stand to watch anything subbed.

After the first season is just a big never ending filler, it gets boring fast.

Also there are too many flashbacks, why do I have to watch the same fu**ing scenes over and over again? It's ok once in a while but Naruto is 70% filler, 20% flashbacks and 10% actual storyline.
