This model is kept in black and silver design with a back plate similar to the one from NITRO series.

From what I heard there will be reference RX 470 cards available for sale, so this card is Sapphire’s approach to affordable Polaris 10 PRO. Technically it looks like reference card, but it’s slightly modified to give it a unique look.

Little birds have told me that RX 470 will retail at 179 USD, so I wouldn’t be surprised if this was indeed the price tag of this very card.

 

I think the 470 Platinum looks awesome

Metal plate on the front and the metal backplate make the 470 a slick "budget" card, though i wonder how much it will add to the cost..

Well I've been seriously considering finally buying my first real GPU for my own system and the RX470 has been my choice coming for awhile. If the reference cooler isn't shit I may actually grab that since it looks awesome.

I'm interested to see how these cards affect the used hardware market.  The rx460 is looking to be an r9 370 replacement at 100 bucks so it would be interesting to see how cheap something like an HD 7850 will go for.

if that was solid platinum, then they forgot two 0's in the MSRP. Just a 10uM thick layer of platinum on that large a cover would cost as much as the rest of the components together.

 

but then again, why would sapphire lie. They have plenty money they can waste on making fancy shrouds

why would a back plate (PCB protection / strengthening plate) go past the PCB?

Ya but it needs to be their for cooling it would bother me more if they made the PCB bigger to make it look right. then it would look ridiculous with a water block on it

Fair enough.

I think they should have raised the end of the fan shroud and put it in line with the backplate. I think that'd look a lot better.
