Asus unveiled the GTX 1070 Dual (not dual GPU)

Djole123

single 8-pin is more than enough for 1070. The pascal architecture hits a soft limit at 2.1Ghz

Looks really nice but I don't like ASUS much. I won't be getting 1070 anyway so this pretty much doesn't concern me. If I had to choose however I think the HOF card looks better.

BTW:

When will people realize that the 8pin on 1070/1080 and 6pin on 480 doesn't limit the overclockability at all unless you plan to do LN2? The limitations are completely elsewhere.

Why didn't asus make an echelon version? Instead of calling it "dual".

I thought it was a dual 1070 in a single PCB

Why can't anyone make a nice looking card?!

And what the f*ck is with that naming scheme? Just seems shady to call it dual because it has two fans. What's new here?

But its two fans for the price of one! And, the fans aren't removable for cleaning/replacing, so some griefing thief can't run off with your fans.

Actually, joking aside there was a committee in tawain to come up with a name, and they confused the word Duel for Dual. It's supposed to be a dueling card.

Ok, really not joking here, Asus have decided to replace humans in marketing with robots as well.

Allright.... I'm serious this time, It's Asus trying to tell people that this card is a steaming number 2.

Three things that bug me about this:

1) No backplate

2) Dual is a misleading name

3) WHY NO WHITE PCB???

That is a missed opportunity.

A dual GPU 1070 would be awesome though, and it would likely fill the market bracket between the 1070 and 1080.

Are you saying 2x 1070 is slower than 1 1080?

EDIT: Oh wait, just a misleading name...

Exactly my thoughts...

So it's an ASUS 1070 SINGLE xD

@Djole123 ASUS named this card so badly I'd go as far as to suggest you change the title to "Asus unveiled the GTX 1070 Dual (Note: Single GPU card)" or something like that

This card was misleading, would have had potential as a dual 1070. Shroud looks like a (failed) attempt at a cheapo knockoff of the HOF line

At least HOF has a white PCB, and that's a thing.

What is this shit though..... >.<

A successful attempt to make a powerful GPU look cheap???

Nailed it!

If it is not broken, let's fix till it is.
