All the SL x299 chips come delidded so no work was done on my part.

Almost beat. But hey, for a 6c to come that close is pretty impressive.

May I ask what do you mean by "SL" ?

Would be great to buy chip that's already delided and ready to use at normal temps lol

I did some 5 GHz testing last week.  My chip isn't delidded so I disabled some cores and ran tests with 8, 6, and 4 cores.

The individual cores of Skylake-X are very strong cores capable of performing well on their own. :D

Those cores seems to be as stron as the one from 7700k ... not that bad.

But I'm interested if you will be able to get anything over 5GHz stable. Then again ... what more do you need than 10 core CPU with 5GHz on all cores lol

The cores are actually a bit stronger clock for clock than the 7700k.  I'm guessing it's the new cache structuring at work.

All jokes aside, he doesn't update it too frequently.  Sometimes it's a few days and sometimes a few weeks.  Trust me, he'll get it done.

Wanted to ask you guys; been reading on OCN that the 7800X/20X have full AVX-512 capabilities like the 7900X. Reviewers were telling us that the 7800X/20X only had half SP-DP AVX-512 enabled. Is there any new information regarding this? I'm genuinely curious. :)

I try not to believe most of what I see in a YouTube review as most of them hardly know what the fuck it is that they are reviewing.

Intel does not designate any difference in AVX-512 between any of the CPUs.  I doubt that there is a difference.

Then again, according to AnandTech, there is a difference, but I don't know where they got the info from

http://www.anandtech.com/show/11550/the-intel-skylakex-review-core-i9-7900x-i7-7820x-and-i7-7800x-tested/3

Quote

As mentioned above, the AVX-512 unit is per core, and although more aimed at the enterprise crowd, regular software might take a while to catch up. For anyone on the consumer side who wants to play with AVX-512, it is worth reiterating that there is a separation between the Skylake-X processors: the 6-core and 8-core parts only support one FMA per core, whereas the 10-core supports two FMAs per core.

Last I saw, it was pretty much mathematically proven through testing that they (7800x/20x) have full AVX-512.  I don't ever really use it, but it is nice to know the capability is there.

Is Super Socket 7 allowed? With CPU ranging across S5/S7/SS7? Because long story short:

That motherboard supports CPU from all mid to late 90's manufacturers (as well has having ATA 66 and supporting 768MB of RAM & 512MB DIMM) and is currently having Windows XP installed on a second HDD (only 1 IDE header works so I have to swap out the cable) for benchmarking purposes.

Edit: If so, I'll be doing the tweaks to make it benchmark higher instead of just running XP as a normal install, since the CPU will need all the help they can get.

Sorry chaps. I have been busy doing many things. Many things will continue for maybe another week or so.

Also if anyone can control the weather in my area to be about 12c outside that would be great. I would be about 18.645x more likely to update the spreadsheet.

Keep post i9 scores and ryzens and whatever else you can dig up. They will all get put on eventually.

Does anyone know what could be stopping CB 2003 from running? Its not the "lack" of L2 cache because it ran quite happily on my Celeron 333 with its L2 cache disabled (and XP doesn't feel like there is no L2 cache). Spent all yesterday trying to figure out why with no luck.
