on ln2 people are using 1.5-1.6v I would not think you can run 1.35-1.4v like you can on skylake, because the amps drawn would be way way too high for any ambient cooling.

At 1.35-1.4, we're talking ludicrous power.  The damn clocks speed would be nuts though, right?  xD

no the clock speed doesnt scale that great tbh. 5.9ghz on ln2 at 1.6v :(

Oh yeah, I don't care how high it goes on the big end for stuff like LN2.  I just want to know what the usable Window will be like on water.  I'm fairly confident I'll be into the low 5 GHz range once this 7900X is delidded.

Did some testing and clock for clock, the Skylake X cores are a touch faster than the Kaby Lake cores.  While they won't be able to hit the same clock speed as Kaby Lake, it's good to know that core for core, they are at least equivalent or better.

You said the clock speed would be nuts at 1.35-1.4v but it wouldn't because it doesn't scale well is what I was saying.

We'll at 4 GHz, I score around a 2250cb in R15.  Multiply that by 1.8 and you 4050cb on the 18 core at 4 GHz.  If you can get it to run Cinebench at 4.4 to 4.5 GHz, it would crank out a 4500cb.  lol

not when i can do 4.9ghz on 1.25v. its all relative. 5ghz is not a magic number. an fx9590 is 5ghz stock and look how bad that is. the % oc is still fairly low for the extra voltage.

Well I'm one of those people ... kinda.

I said that Skylake-X will have temp problems and because of that it won't be able to overclock as much as it would on solder. And that's still true.

The 7900X is hitting clocks that the 6950X can only dream of. 4.9GHz at 1.255V is some going. Of course more samples are needed to see if they all can do something near that.

Yeah, I must agree that 4,9GHz seems amazing on 10 core CPU.

I'm just waiting for other results to see if that's just luck, or other CPUs can clock that well also.

If all of those CPUs can be OCed to 4,7GHz or above .... that's just amazing.

i7 7820X. 8 cores @ 4.8GHz, 1.28v. Tried 1.26 but failed almost instantly. 1.27 made it 80% through before locking up. >:( Need to work on RAM and Mesh speeds next. Still grinding away! :D I brought my office temps down to 16c for this test. :D  Look at those core temps for 4.8!

Cinebench shows 4.6 as max but it's incorrect. It showed 85GHz speed a few days ago. Thought I must've gotten a unicorn CPU. xD

New score -- 2053.

(On a side note, I have to get a 7820X or a 7800X, Skylake-X is too much fun!)

I'll wait for Coffeelake before I buy a new CPU, because you never know, it may be able to hit 5.5+GHz :D

Yeah if I was you I'd wait too. It's gonna be on 14nm++ so 5.5 might just be doable. :D

Pretty happy with the result for a 30€ CPU :D

Temperatures are not an issue (Tcase is 80°C), but I just can't get the BCLK over 221.
