Considering that PBO gave me random spikes over 80c, performed worse, and ran at higher voltages I'd say I'm pleased with these results. Also got RAM OC'd to 3600mhz CL16. Got 3 passes of R20 at 4.2Ghz @1.34V with a temp of 71C Max Multicore and 51C Max Single Core. No, Ryzen 2 don't really like going past approx 4.2 - they do get to UP TO 4.7Ghz with the Precision boost setting (PBO) for a few microseconds here and there - but they usually gain a LOT of heat and use absurdly more power after 4.2 all core from what I understand. For my uses - 4.2Ghz is plenty and the voltage is much better. Using 1.34V instead of 1.45V is a gooood thing as there are reports starting that running Ryzen 2 chips above ~1.4V is causing early deaths - and at the moment - PBO is allowing the chips to get way over that (as per my 1.45V max I have seen - gets to 1.43 regularly). I would rather play it safe, and seen as the best performance seems to be at around 4.2Ghz - I will stay close to that. PBO WITH its extra voltage and boosting gave me a score 300 points lower approximately than my manual clocking too - I thinks that says enough... According to what AMD has stated numerous times on the matter, voltages of up to 1.5 volts are completely safe when run at stock settings, as it boosts a couple of cores at a time during low current loads. If you run something like Prime95 on the cpu for instance, and monitor via HWinfo, you'll see all core workloads around ~4.0GHz and voltages around the 1.3 range, or lower, depending on what the chip deems safe at that particular moment. If you bothered to read anything about Zen 2 you would know that there's nothing wrong with PBO behaviour. It's entirely normal for LOW CURRENT loads to have a working voltage of 1.45V+. I read plenty and listen to what lots of people are saying about this PBO/Voltage situation - some people are reporting their chips sit around 1.2/1.3v drop to 0.9 and spike to 1.4 to 1.47V irregularly, then there are cases more like mine where under just a gaming load I am seeing it SAT at around 1.42 to 1.45V and occasional DIPS to below 1.4 - which is said NOT to be good for the chips at all - PBO seems to be unreliable at this stage and I am not sure whether I trust it or not... (Unless gaming is using a Low current draw on cores - which I suspect Not!?). Yes - from what I understand - the chance of a Burn-Out of my Ryzen chip is very low - but has not been disproved where people are seeing higher voltages reported at this point... Should I really risk an ~$850 NZD chip??? (YES - that's how much they are over here!) That being said, my scores went UP ~300 points when I manual clocked instead of using PBO, so I think that it's working better for me anyway, considering temps sit ~ same or better than before... Whether I am right about the PBO causing an issue or not is beside the point at this time - If I choose to play it safe and limit for both Temps and performance being improved - that doesn't make this a silly idea... As it turns out after an hour of searching for further info - this issue with the power reporting and 'Burn out' is probably being over-hyped by media - but when I could not find any reports to the contrary without going very in-depth you can surely see why someone could believe this may be a real problem!? As it stands I watched a half hour long GN speel on youtube about it to get an answer and see that it looks to be a non-event. With a decent cooler in particular it sounds like it should never be an issue - even IF it originally could have been! I put it straight back. If i go to 4.3 (and i take you point on doing it by CCX) should i reduce volts further? 1.2 > 1.15? RAM I used the DRAM calc for Ryzen to get the initial set of all the timing to get that 3200 and tweaked a little further. I want to push closer to 3600 but not sure on volts here too. Don't know if advisable to go above 1.35v just for a bench and then put it straight back Score Any chance you think i can get to 4000 on cine R20 (just for the milestone) or is that completely unrealistic?
