Epic because it is StarTrek. 

I don't have a VR device though and I know I wont be getting one either (because of the wife) so I guess I will find a corner somewhere and have me a cry . . . :(

 

*edit they need to add a Star Wars now. Imagine VR lightsabers ... mmmm.

not a star trek but that was awesome! now if only i had enough friend to form a crew

I'm pretty sure this game is for PSVR, Oculus, and Vive, so title can get modified.

 

This type of stuff is going to become a whole game genre and I'm excited for that.

 

A big downside for the moment is needing... multiple VR headsets to play this? And you thought having to buy four consoles for multiplayer was bad... Vive * 4.

I really hope they're going to make this work over the web. The multiple people in the same room experience is great and all but I imagine for most people the group of friends that likes Star Trek and can afford VR and lives in the same area is very small.

Maybe they can have a non-VR mode for people to play on regular monitors with and with regular mouse input. Not as fun/immersive but it will work if the gameplay is solid.

They could do that, but it shouldn't be that hard to have a workable experience over the web either as long as latency isn't too high between players.

I don't think it will be a very latency sensitive game. It's not cs;go or doom.

Will probably work ok with 300ms roundtrip.

 

Clarification before people jump on me- not talking about HMD/rendering/tracking latency. I am talking about latency between players on the Internet for a multiplayer session.

but each player's graphical rendering is localized on his/her PC.

That is different from the network latency to multiplayer server or other players.

This would have been a reason to get into VR, but Ubisoft will always be a dealbreaker, even if I'm the alpha quadrant's biggest Star Trek fan.

Thanks, don't know why I made that assumption.  Think after seeing Bethesda specifically call out HTC vive during their E3 event, I'm starting to see battle lines being drawn everywhere.

 

So then the only serious question left is:

Which cast member would play Star Trek VR with?  Levar Burton, or Jeri Ryan?

Pretty cool. But graphics dont look too good.


And it seems like all ooculus/vive games are still limited now.
