Question about Zelda Ocarina of time and Majora's mask

i played these game when I was younger and never could complete them. So now I'm watching a walk through of Ocarina of time and noticed the mask man is in there. He is also in Majora's mask.

Now my question is are the 2 games connected or they are completely different. Like is one game set at a later date, because they are both Link right?

If there is a spoiler in the answer please don't tell, I will be watching both breakthroughs as a movie!

Thanks

They are both that same Link, The Hero of Time. MM comes directly after, which is rarely the case in the Zelda franchise.

I had the gold edition Majora's on N64. Best game, unfortunately I had no clue what was going on and just screwed around with the different masks :P

OoT is the breaking point of many universes in the story line. Majora's Mask happens immediately after, with the same young Link in the quest of OoT, assuming that Link manages to defeat Ganon, and accepts Zelda's offer to revert to his younger age and continue life as normal.

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.

This. MM is a direct sequel of OOT like how ALBW is a direct sequel to ALTTP, not how Nintendo usually handles things.

MM in Japan is called Zelda Gaiden, which means Zelda Side-story. It's what happens to young Link some time after the end of OOT.

Majora's Mask and Ocarina of Time's Link is the same Link.

The Zelda time line splits up after OOT and one of the timelines begins with Majora's Mask (so I guess you could say it's a direct sequel)

I guess spoilers if you have not watched the end of OOT yet (although it's barely a spoiler):

The official timeline goes like this:

Skyward Sword -> Minish Cap -> Ocarina of Time -> (timeline splits in 3)

You die in OoT -> A Link to the Past -> Oracle of Seasons/Ages -> Link's Awakening -> Zelda -> Zelda 2

Adult Link goes back in time after saving the day -> Wind Waker -> Phantom Hourglass -> Spirit Tracks

Child Link warns them about Ganondorf -> Majora's Mask -> Twilight Princess
