radical guild

I play fallout new Vegas unturned and Minecraft and other free games on steam

In the future I would like to do a multi projector setup

My budget is 250 max

You're the one with the bullshit argument, I don't gotta show anything 'til I see something from you.

I know for a damn fact that the 7850 (it's literally on par with the 750 Ti, and I actually can prove it) cannot max out GTA V or Battlefield 4 at 720p and manage 60FPS.

Check out my guide on how to scan cover art here!

He's not playing that very demanding games, a 750 ti should be more than enough.

Since you insist,

It sounds like your system is CPU bound, both BF4 and GTA V take up big CPU resources.

In fact, tomshardware recommends as low as a R7 360 to max out games at 720p. If you disagree, go hate on them.

It's also complete overkill, as is a 960 (which "crushes" 720p as well as anything else out there, 380 included). A 950 is the absolute highest-tier card you'd really ever need for 720p. A 750 Ti or R7 360 would be perfect for the job, and cost far less.

But if he gets the 960/380, if he ever upgrades to 1080 (which he really should) he will be ready and wont have to buy a new GPU.

That's what people said with the 780 Ti on the 1080p. Yet now it's obviously struggling, give it 5+ years a 1080 isn't a waste on 720p. In fact it would be a good investment if he decides to upgrade his monitor in the future, but the main factor is OP's budget.

No card is overkill for any given resolution as it depends on the users needs and budget. Do they want every game to be maxed out 60+ FPS or can they get away with everything maxed out but AA and Middleware options (GameWorks) left turned off to achieve 60+ FPS? Or perhaps they're happy with medium settings on demanding games yet be able to easily max out any less demanding game? It's all situational for the user.

But obviously Nvidia and AMD market their cards in accordance to what they deem "targetable" performance so newbies who don't like to do researching will have an easier way to differentiate and decide what's the best for their situation.

literally get a 750 Ti, 950, R9 370, something like that. you'll be fine. if you really wanna get a good card and have upgradeability to 1080p if you get a 1080p monitor, get a R9 380X. Make sure its a 4GB card though. [edit] or a 4GB 960 if your power supply doesn't allow for a 380X. Pretty much the same
