They havent updated the fans, they dont use the ACX double ball bearing yet so in theory its worst, this design is basically a rebadge of their current gen coolers, they will be likely coming out with a better solution later down the line.

well the r9 280x is a 7970, so they had the thing to design the cooler  for 2 years now...

also guys, this is a gpu cooler, you can t do much of anythign other than put fans and a shroud on it.

And the the shape of the shroud can t be bigger than a rectangle

so yes many card will look the same in the sense that they re rectangle with fans on it nothing new here.

That isn t the important part, it s about the heatsinks underneat/ fan choice/ custom pcb.

(and if they re licensing a design, who cares?)

Anything I write is just a comment, take is as such, there is no guarantees associated with anything I say.

You're forgetting, they both appear to have a DVI port!

I think it's similar to their normal dual dissipation coolers than anything else. Although it doesn't appear to have exposed heat pipes. Which to me is the loss of a feature, exposed heat pipes allow extra cooling if you have air flowing across them from the side panel intake.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

This is simply gorgeous The black with silver accents is stellar. And IDC if they stole it from ACX or whatever you think. I have a EVGA 780 ACX and I think this 280x looks better : P

Nice, very sleek. Finally a card of theirs that wouldn't look out of place in anything but a red build ;)

Cultivating the passion & desire to be admired is a path full of condemnation, the eager and the hopeful follow this treacherous path to the end.
Many see beauty, only a few perceive it, its existence is cursed as it's tethered to only those who comprehend it.

To search for ones identity in the sea of knowledge is to know their backbone.

WOW the green folk have obviously invaded, because no one in his right mind would say anything about this card other than it's utterly beautiful.

I'm still a fan of their current designs (which scale well to the 77xx's), has a bit of detail to it with the shroud being silver metal with a hard black stripe going down the middle, and metalic mirrored rings around the fans. This design looks like an early version however, though it really grows on you fast, seriously I hated this when I first saw it...

Okay, onto my main initial feeling, the shroud - at first sight that new cooler looks a bit more closed at the bottom, so I wonder what the idea is with that. As a 7950 user I  noticed a decent amount of air being blown down onto the motherboard, and also against the case side, as well as out of the back, as well as being easy to take apart. I wonder how this new one will exhaust.

At the end of editing and writing this, I'm hopeful for their new design and card identity to be featured on the smaller ones.

There is a problem with the metal bit around the fans, they are glued on by the glue is melting, give it 6months to a year and it will fall off, all the dust is getting caught in it aswell.
