Would you be okay with a robot operating on you?

Would you allow a robot to operate on you in surgery, provided that the robot has, in the past, successfully been used for other surgeries? The robot would be totally unmanned.

Totally. I have trust issues with doctors anyway, and I know that human error makes up for most of the problems in operations.

I have also seen the stitching robots that have been assisting with surgeries for a while now, I'd be up for that no doubt.

A robot would be better and more accurate at surgery than a lame human.

Linus is my fetish.

Nope.

I can imagine someone not paying attention as "Surgery.exe" stops working and i bleed out on the table.

Adding that a computer controlled robot can't improvise if something goes wrong. And doesn't feel empathy.

No, cuz if the thing gets an error and tears away my liver or smth cuz a sensor fucked up then that won't really be nice.

In decades time maybe if there is an ultra small chance of anything going wrong then maybe

yes , as it would be much more precise and efficient than a doctor.

Totally unmanned with no humans nearby at all or unmanned but with someone supervising?

With current technology I would be fine with it if there was someone nearby who could takeover if something went wrong but give it 5 or 10 years and then I might be okay with a completely unmanned robot.

You do realize that being a surgeon is one of the careers that has a high percentage of psychopaths right?

As long as they do their jobs i don't really care. And i'd still trust a surgeon more than a machine.

The only reason I say that is because you listed the criteria of "doesn't feel empathy" as being a negative of a robot.

Most of the surgeons you encounter will most likely not be psychopaths though.
