Getting ready to start finalizing my build

RedPls

Should I go with this build for now? I'm kinda wanting to have a Black/White/Silver build, with a $1250 AUD budget for those components.

I'll just be living off the iGPU until I can afford to buy the 1070, which'll probably be anywhere from mid November to mid January.

As for the PSU, I would put a SuperNOVA G2 650W there instead, but it doesn't have a price in AUD on PCPP. I would prefer for it to be fully modular, since non-modular PSUs are a PITA for cable management.

I can change things if needed.

Looks good.

You really only need 650 W but other than that your component choices are solid

i7 4790k | MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition | G.Skill Ripjaws X 16 GB | Samsung 850 EVO 500 GB | 2x Seagate Barracuda 2TB | MSI GTX 970 Twin Frozr V | Fractal Design R4 | EVGA 650W

A gaming PC for your budget: $800 - $1000 - $1500 - $1800 - $2600 - $9001

Would the G2 650W be comparable to the superNOVA Nex 650W in terms of pricing?

Yes I realize the NEX is a really bad Tier 6 PSU. :x

At least you know the NEX isn't as good as the G2/GS PSUs.

I'm not sure about the NEX pricing in Australia, but stateside it's a little cheaper. But it's also a worse too.

If the G2/GS 650 watt models are a bit out of your budget, SeaSonic, XFX or Cooler Master might be an option... Corsair is hit or miss, but if Corsair is an option then it should be the RMi, RMx, HMi, HM(?), AX(?), and AXi.

Though I'd recommend you use @STRMfrmXMN's PSU Whitelist

I still need to get the OS, Monitor and KB beforehand, so I don't mind waiting a couple months longer so I can afford the 1070.

So something more like the Seasonic Strider Gold 550W or 650W or something?

The NEX 650W is ~$129 AUD, so yeah...

On the basis of the PCMR PSU infographic the Strider Gold is like a Tier 2b PSU, though if it's Seasonic it should hold true to it being "Safesonic".

Though, @RedPls. Wouldn't the lower wattage PSU (650W) be cheaper than the higher wattage PSU (750 watt)?

Because if you can the G2/GS is all around a very good PSU.

The NEX should be avoided like... Hmmm not the plague... Idk... It's not a great PSU, how about that.

I only referenced the NEX 650 since it'll probably be similar pricing to what the 650W G2 would be.

It probably is cheaper than the 750W, I just don't know the exact Australian price for it. I could check other Australian sites if they have the 650W G2, but I don't have high hopes.

Hmm... It seems like the 650 G2 isn't available in Australia.

It's either the 650 G1 aka NEX or 750 G2. ;~;

Yeah, it's $115 for the 750W variant though. Well on PCPP at least.
