Well, my question is that if one is equal to two 980s, and I can assume that means it is 100% scaling 980s, then two 1080's is probably equal to 4 980s with around 90-ish% scaling.  Or something like that.  That's great. Especially if it could be $1000 for two.

The graph shows the 1080 at around 4.3ish and the 980 at 2.6ish. So its about 1.6x a 980 and 1.2 better than a titan X so pretty much what we expected and that is their own scale of "gaming performance". It is not 2 times a 1080 they said SLI for a reason the hype spin machine is a going.

the 980ti is still a good card...i'm not sure the GTX 1080 will be a worthy upgrade to a 980ti

AMD are getting essentially the same double node jump to work with, and this time they're jumping in with a more comprehensive architecture update (unlike with the 300 series). Wait and see.
