Eventually, yes. At this moment, nothing that we know of.

 

Broadwell-E CPUs are coming for the same socket/chipset as current Haswell-E processors (LGA2011-3 and X99).

broadwell E is coming first, and that will be for X99

skylake E will come in a few years and will be a new platform

Yes, but current X99 motherboards will require a BIOS update for Broadwell-E processors.

It should work with existing LGA 2011-v3 motherboards.

 

"Broadwell" was a very small stepping stone between "Devil's Canyon" and "Skylake" -- it it was very short lived on the Mainstream (Z97, LGA 1150) platform. IMO, it just demonstrated that Intel is capable of designing a capable iGPU, and was a "test subject" for their Irsis Pro.

The 5th and 6-th generation Intel CPUs -- especially in the Mobile segment -- are using the Intel Iris (Pro) Graphics.

The new lineups are rumored to be the i7-6800K, 6850K, 6900K, and 6950X.

 

The i7-6800K is rumored to have 6 cores (12 treads) and be a 3.4 GHz chip, with 15MB L3 cache, which with the exception of the clock speed similar to that of a 5820K.

 

The i7-6850K is rumored to also have 6 cores, and be a 3.6 GHz chip, with 15MB L3 cache similar to that of a 5930K.

 

The i7-6900K is rumored to basically be a 5960X with a little extra power. Should be a 3.2 GHz chip, with 20MB with 8 cores and 16 threads, I presume this is gonna pack a punch.

 

The i7-6950X is rumored to be not like the other chips. It's not gonna reassemble the current X99 chips like the chips. This one is the odd one out. 25 freaking MB of L3 cache; 10 CORES. (Still a 3 GHz chip like a 5960X). Damn, Daniel!

 

All the chips are announced to be 14nm however.

 

Judging by these specs, I'm pretty hyped for Broadwell-E, speaking as a certified X99 user. You might be, too

The real question is, what will be the number?  My guess?  X200.  Here me out:

 

So we had Z87 and Z97, etc. so the generation was going up by 10 each time, with the other number being 7 (or 9).  Then came Z170 - make sense: 80, 90, 100.  It owuld have been Z107 but that looks dumb so the other number (7) was raised so it is now 10 times more (70).  So, if we extrapolate, X79, X99, the next in the series (70, 90, ...) would be 110.  Plus, we now take the 9 and turn it into 90.  110 + 90 is X200   I also predict the next consumer board will be Z180 (80, 90, 100, 110 + 70)

X99 is still part of tick tock, so it will have 2 generation life span. It's said skylake-e will have a new socket. Maybe skylake-e will follow intel's PAO where it will have 3 gens and then a socket change.

I don't think there will be a new number; Broadwell-E support the same socket and chipset as X99, so the number will stay X99.
